Good morning,
Thank you, Threadbear. It should shape up to be quite the nice place with some elbow grease and benjamins applied. So, good news! Sold with a signed contract and 25% down so it's for real this time. Closing is March 16th and three days later will see us living in Gardner full time. One more month without tanks.
regards,
Painless

It might need just a tad more than elbow grease, Painless. Still it has bags of potential, despite having been the hideout for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid..just a bit of zimmerit and camouflage, maybe? :D I though that there could be nobody on the forum who lives in a more remote, ends-of-the-earth location than I do (Highland coastal village..not far from the Arctic Circle); but you're about to take that position. I too hate the urban sprawl..but I'm not too keen on rattlesnakes (souped-up airsoft Tiger 1 to scare them off?), scorpions and weird bugs. Anyway, really hope it all works out for you..and you find the tranquility and tank-time you want. 40-acre battlefield? It doesn't get any better than that  Glad you appreciated the video clip the other day. Incidentally, this really IS a place in Gardner :shh:

43rd ;o) ,
Drove by that building yesterday on our way into and out of town. ;o) Gardner has some 613 people living there now ( including us ). ( I think I have seen maybe a dozen total so far ) The old 83' Fleetwood 60 x 13 is solid and we spent a happy afternoon yesterday walking out the measurements for the fencing we're putting up to keep coyotes and such away from the area close by the living residences. We measured out the insides for furniture, flooring and a modern shower and toilet. Plan to put a freezer under the counter too. It will make a sweet Office and guest set up once we are done with it. We plan to live in it while the new place goes up next door. March 19 will see us installed in Gardner for good. ;o)

Painless

Hi Painless, good luck with the move and build. Brings things home when you mention fencing out the coyotes and takes me back to my time in South Africa with the snakes and meerkats. Nothing worse than coming home to find the kids and cat 'playing' with a live boomslang in the middle of the lounge floor.........
All the best. Alwyn

Mornin', Alwyn, :o)
I hear you. I am going to brush up on my SEE skillset and will have some potent snake medicine loaded and ready in the gun cabinet or holstered on my belt when out walking the land. We are pretty excited to do the move. It's been a while since something made us sit up and take notice that life had more to offer than the usual 9-5 and trips to the grocers.

A beautiful piece of engineering. I enjoy well made guns, as some on my posts have revealed, even though I feel conflicted about it sometimes. That piece is meant to be oiled, and cleaned and..well, stroked even, it looks so good to hold. But how do you get 9 .44 rounds into what looks awfully like a six-shooter? No matter, but I'd be a very shy rattler with that piece in town.. :haha: Enjoy!!

43rd, Evenin' ;o)
Here is a link on the LeMats "Grapeshot Revolver" It's a black powder, Civil War era Saddle Revolver replica manufactured by Pietta of Italy. ( I shoot only black powder these days due to tinnitus picked up from decades of riding with an open face helmet ) It's a huge revolver, weighs over 4 pounds when loaded with powder, ball and caps. The only revolver I possess which is larger in dimension and weight is the Colt Walker. The LeMat is an old world Wonder in this current Age of Technological Firearms Wizardry.

Fascinating read. Invented by a doctor :eh: ? That means he could patch the holes he'd just put in you...although you could drive a 1/16 tank though some of them, I think. I'd love to try black powder; an old musket of the legendary British Brown Bess, but our next project is the Schmeisser MP 40..used along with the P38 as a defence weapon by german Panzer units. As I live in Scotland, even owning a peashooter raises eyebrows. Thus,my son (swiss based) acquires all the weaponry; I just get to fire it!). I sympathise with the tinnitus, Painless, as it's often hard to blot out. My left ear is plagued by it, but while I rode a BMW R80RT for years (ex-police model), it wasn't the bike that caused it..as the full fairing dampened the slipstream. No, it was from noisy rock festivals like the one at Bath in 1970 (Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Santana, The Byrds, Steppenwolf, Jefferson Airplane, Frank Zappa and many more ear battering bands.. ).It also came from spending a summer, in my student days working in a shipyard on a nuclear submarine. Being inside a sub with a hundred (air chisel) caulking hammers going on the outside was hell on earth. Only 'softies' wore ear defenders then..'real 'men took the unimaginable noise, and the 'flashes' from arc welders too.. Anyway, I'd risk the other one to blast away with that Colt Walker of yours..another real rarity I believe. You can build a great range on your new 40 acres! Just remember to wear your bite-proof boots :lolno:
Regards, Roy.

Good afternoon, 43rd!
I completely understand the damage we do to ourselves rather than be a 'softie' Only years later can we look back and exclaim WTH! I love Scotland and want to come back and visit again one day when I am fully retired. Congratulations on having progeny with connections and having the opportunity to shoot all kinds of neat weapons. Indeed!, A proper BP range is one of the things on my list along with the town setup for the Armor to trundle through. ( all due caution taken, yes ) ;o) Enjoy your afternoon, Roy. Here is a pic of the Walker to look at. It came with three extra cylinders, one of them a Taylors Conversion for shooting mild 45 LC ammunition with. Take care of yourself and keep an eye on that ear issue ( pardon the pun )

Painless
