Hi!
I had a lot of trouble with IBU while its installation. I wrote to Ivano, who produced it and his advice was to go through joystick calibration process very carefully. He send me instructions, too.
And after that my board worked as it should.
There's these instructions:
Anyway let’s go step by step …
For the moment we start as a 4 channel board :
Remove all cables from rx to ibu
Connect the rx cable corresponding to the stick (x or y axis) you want to use as throttle to ibu2 channel 1 (you can use a servo to identify the rx output)
Connect the rx cable corresponding to the stick (x or y axis) you want to use as steering to ibu2 channel 2 (you can use a servo to identify the rx output)
Connect the rx cable corresponding to the stick (x or y axis) you want to use as barrel elevation to ibu2 channel 3 (you can use a servo to identify the rx output)
Connect the rx cable corresponding to the stick (x or y axis) you want to use as traverse to ibu2 channel 4 (you can use a servo to identify the rx output)
Flip dip-switch 5 to off
Power on the tank
Flip dip switch 8 to on
Calibrate the radio (hold the sticks in every corner for 5 seconds)
Flip the dip switch 8 to off
Power off the tank
Power on the tank
Now the basic function should work
P.S.: the battery should be fully charged

One thing that you can check is that the dip switches are fully across, use a narrow screwdriver to ensure that they are pushed as far as they will go. I had a similar problem once, the switches looked like they were 'home' but one wasn't.
You could also check the leads from the receiver to the board. I had some dodgy solder joints under the heatshrink. In the end I just bought a set of four from Ebay, they are pretty cheap, and it solved the intermittent signal problem completely.
Check the SD card files, and ensure that the .ini file hasn't been deleted by mistake. This is the file that tells the board what to do. If it isn't there, just copy one from one of the other folders and edit it to your requirements, they are all pretty much the same, just make sure that the sound file names are the same as the ones that it is trying to read. As a test just do a complete swap for a different tank. Save the root files into a temporary folder, then delete the root files, then copy/paste the contents from another folder into the root area. That way you don't lose the files that you currently have there, and you can copy them back again if you need to.
It's a good idea to copy the entire SD card to your pc. If anything happens to the SD card then you can buy another one, and copy them all back on to it. It also allows you to play around with settings knowing that you can reload the defaults if it all gets messed up.
You can't break anything or do any damage by playing around with the SD card files. Either they are correct and it all works, or they aren't and it doesn't.
It does sound like a signal problem, so check that the receiver plugs are in the correct locations, and that they are inserted correctly (its a bit dark in there and its easy to misalign a plug so that only two pins on a plug are used - done that loads of times) and that there are no loose wires on the receiver plugs. Give each one a 'gentle' tug, none of them should come loose.

Hi Good advice Rob and Eddy ,been reading through all the posts , one thing has jumped out at me , You say you have deleted the IR battling voices and music because your not using the IR battling, If you leave them in you will not hear them because the music only plays if your killed the Voices only happens If you select them , so you may have removed something you need. The ini file is the one thing that makes all the others work I this has been removed or any of the contents removed it could affect all the sounds. On your last post nothing happens when you turn the knobs , well you have removed the sound files that are activated by turning the knobs.
Redo the SD card copy any tank and replace the edited one you have on there now. If you do not have a un-edited file of the tank you have Ian can e-mail a new one to you, but try another first. There are only slight differences between tanks for instance you can use King Tiger for Tiger , Sherman for Pershing , not much difference between them.
regards pete

Re: IBU2 Pro, it's all gone horribly wrong! Need help.
Thank you all for the help and advice. I'm going to follow all the steps suggested by Eddy K, Wibblywobbly and 971wright as far as I can. I've only just got back in and logged on. I'm off sick at present with an infection in my left lung (cue sympathy!), so should have time to work on it (come to think of it this was the case last week when I started it - is it my incompetence or the damned steroids and antibiotics, who knows?).
In my original post I mentioned IBU2 configuration settings on screen as IBU2 Notepad. Is this the same thing, the INI? Do I copy this to the folder (Tiger v10)?
Thanks
Weazil
P.S. I was starting the tank correctly and all the dip switches are fully across.

Re: IBU2 Pro, it's all gone horribly wrong! Need help.
Ok, all switches in same position.
Default test.
Open the SD card.
Delete everything that is not in a folder.
Open a folder.
Highlight all the files in the folder.
Exit the folder.
Paste everything that you just copied.
You should now have a list of folders followed by a list of files.
Remove the SD card and put it back in the IBU2.
At this point there is nothing on the SD card that can stop your tank working.
Turn the volume up, or halfway if you don't know which way is up.
Turn the tx on
Turn the tank on
Try and start the tank. On mine it is left stick down and right.
If that doesn't work, try each diagonal position in turn, hold the stick there for a few seconds each time.
If the tank does not start then the rx plugs are in the wrong positions
or
There is a broken solder joint under the heatshrink on one of the plugs.
or
The plugs are not plugged in correctly eg only 2 pins are going into one or more plugs.
I use a Flysky tx.
With the board rotated so that the speaker socket is on the left.
Board Rx
4>>>>4
3>>>>2
2>>>>1
1>>>>3
spkr socket at the bottom.
Let us know how you get on.

Hi Weazil,
The IBU2 looks at the microSD card for the setup file (IBU2.ini) and the sound files everything in the folders it ignores. The setup file on a windows PC will open in notepad as a text document where you can change the values then save for use in the IBU2.
So if you think you have messed it up, best course is to delete it and the sound files (not the folders) then copy the contents of a tank folder to the root as a fresh start. If you've messed up the stuff in the folders PM me your email and I'll send you them to start again.
If your really stuck I should be at the Manchester tank meet on the 19th December, so pop over and I look at for you.
Ian.
