That's some really great work. You guys make me feel like a real amateur, but I'll keep at it. I'm calling this guy finished.

The color profile that comes with the kit doesn't show red piping, but it has about three different blacks, flat semi and gloss. I thought it was also weird that the hat should be gray.

This guy's hat said red piping, and both semi and gloss black

And this guy also called for red piping

I'm calling this guy done, as well. For now. I'm gonna have to kind of rough them in for now and then go back later for more detail. Figures are a whole hobby unto themselves. Good tip about the pink, and I kinda see now about the piping on the garrison caps, just the chevron on the front? I'll probably get a lot of it wrong, but I'll do my best to keep track.

I've got a lot of accessories and stowage to get taken care of before summer, too, so I won't lack for stuff to do.

Now that sounds like a time saver. I've seen the decal sheets and I have the PE (that's a PE Eagle on the cap of the Jagdtiger driver), so I'll pick up a decal sheet. The great thing about figures is that it's very easy to go back later for touch up. And I'm not really trying to break into the figure building hobby, I just want to accessorize the tanks, ya know? So while I won't be winning any awards or contests, they should help the photos of the tanks look better.

Well, I still haven't gotten the decals because I'm not placing any orders until after Nancy's biopsy, but I have done some stuff with what I have on hand and I figgered it was about time to introduce the next two. They're gettin' there, and are starting to actually look like soldiers. Lots to do, though. Yes, that means piping, too. :) I've also been playing with photo set-ups for when they're finally finished (or at least as close as they ever get).

And it wouldn't be me without video, right? I was going to use this video in a separate thread about taking photos and videos but I'm lazy.

Thanks, Paul, I'm still a real newb to figures but I'm slowly learning. There's a great article in the latest finescalemodeler magazine but he uses all acrylic paints and for the known reasons I'm not in a place to invest in all those paints. For one civil war bust (I once heard that called "The War For Southern Independence" and thought it was cool) in 1/16 (120mm) he must use a dozen different colors. I haven't priced acrylics, but enamels are $2 - $4 a bottle so I'll have to muddle through for now. I still have camo to do on both (I'm just using the colors and patterns called out in the instruction sheet), the one gets a plain jacket and just camo on the pants, and I think I'm going to leave insignia blank for now, in anticipation of getting decals some time in the future. I have fairly close matches to the colors called out in the instruction sheet, do you remember what kind of paint you used on yours? I still have at least a half dozen more Dragon Warrior series kits to assemble and paint. Photos of your guys would be a great help to me, Paul, if you have any handy.

Yeah, that zoom is pretty cool, but I can see my hand is nowhere near steady enough and the current tripod ain't cuttin' the mustard. Again, I'll just have to get better as a new tripod isn't an option at the moment. The one shot where the 1/18th figure in the PzIII suddenly comes into focus made me chuckle. I still need to find time to learn to edit. Not today, though, today I'm trying to get the barrel recoil in the airsoft T1 working. Back to work!
