Have TBS/DBC set up so I can add momentum and stop recoil but not adjust motor speed. Looking forward to using Steel 4:1 vs metal 3:1 lower ratio gearbox. They come with 380 motors and was curious if those are in the same range as 480 promax I added to the old gearbox.

What are the specs on the promax? The stock 380s are rated at 18,000 no load rpm at 7.2 volts. Did you check out the chart? Does Promax have a spec sheet like that?

BTW, the reason they're called 380s is because they're 38mm long. Or so I've heard.

OK, Tom, as promised, here's a video showing tanks with 4 shaft GBs. It got a bit long but it may be of help to you.

Hey Max that was great thanks! That is what I was looking for and both KT and JT were moving nice and slow and the 380's look to have plenty of power so I may not really need to use the 480's. The main thing is I wasn't sure what the ratio was on the Torro KT and Dominque said when I got it in 2013 it had 3:1 zinc gears and it really looks like the 4:1 make a big difference in the low range compared to mine. Not sure if the steel and bearings are noticeable performance wise but clearly it is a better design. Thanks again for videos really appreciate it! Tom

Hey Tom, glad it helped. The new bearings and all actually do give visible performance improvements, you just have to know where to look for them. :) The best way to tell (IMO) is by how far the tank will coast when you release the throttle from 100%. If it stops RIGHT NOW, your geartrain probably isn't rotating as freely as it should. Mine usually coast about 8 inches to a foot if I have it right. As for steel, the zinc gears tend to crumble and don't last long. I've got a couple of shoeboxes full of scrap zinc GBs, and if I get desperate I'll go in there and put together a complete set of zinc GBs from spare parts! I used to give those away but now steel is available at a reasonable price (IMO) so that's usually the very first thing that gets upgraded. I can't believe they're selling Torro King Tigers with zinc gears! The Imex Torro KTs come with the new GBs installed, as did my Jagdtiger. I hope they gave you a lower price.
