Sherman and Kingtiger

Post by tao »

You have probably all seen this photo..but still amazes me to look at the two..it must have been truly frightening to be in a Sherman and see one of these in the distance.

The Sherman crews would only see the KT for a few moments then 1 of 2 things would happen. #1 they'd turn and get the hell out of there while calling in an air strike or #2 the KT crew saw them too and they just became a crew of ghosts.

You mean they wouldn't charge head long at it before nipping round the back and shooting it in the rear?

Should't someone tell WarDaddy?

You could still get round the back of a King tiger just as quickly. You might lose two other Sherman's still...

My father in a moment of extreme madness and with just a little optimism, prepares to take on the next Panzer that dares show it's face!

Being in a Sherman- Spotting a Tiger I, KT or Panther in any sort of open ground would be a real problem.

I think I would be looking to kick the arse of whoever was in command of the reconnaissance section if they failed to report a King Tiger in the area!
