Quick search tells me it used Futaba arms. Should be easy to find parts if you need them.

Michael's looks simple...looks like it's works on the same theory as HL's gun elevation unit...the portable one ..the one that's found in Stugs and Shermans ;)
All your arms could be used ...it would just depend on where the servo is mounted :D

The biggest difference if you compare the HL portable elevation unit it doesn't work with polarity...and turns in one direction only...a servo will be more realistic...as it has dual polarity allowing it to move in either direction

Good Luck ATC

Thanks Michael. That setup looks neat. I'll check our local RC shops maybe they have those main rotor linkage balls.

billpe: Thanks for the info. That is good news as there's a RC shop here that sells all sorts of Futaba stuff so it ought to be very easy to find parts alright.

Any other alternative linkage setups out there? I'd like to see how others here did it.

Think the servo you have will work fine ATC....micro servos are even nicer...most are made for helicopters about the size of the tip of your finger...if you are going to shop around ...that's what I'd get...the size makes them convenient to mount...the hook up I'm thinking of is similar to that of aircraft rudders or elevators....Michaels is simplified with out the use of the rods...those ball joints he posted are usually secured to the arm of the servo...then you would snap a nylon cup /tie rod assembly on to it...that's how it would work on an airplane ...I think in Michaels design...the ball slides in the trough extending from the rear of the gun housing...looks really simple and good ...better than what I was thinking of ;)

I used to do it this way, but like ALPHA said, you will need to play with the different lengths of linkage arms and also the angle. I don't do it this way anymore. This is also susceptible to "flipping" the pull angle when it is jammed for whatever reason. The blue servo is for the elevation and the black servo is for the recoil.

I was planning on using a micro servo for the elevation but funding right now is a bit low so couldn't buy one of those el cheapo Tower Pro blue micro servos. I'll make do with the SG5010 in the meantime, replacing it someday if it needs replacing with a micro servo.

Yup that's pretty much what I had in mind...the set up in your video looks simpler and cleaner

Well, I got a similar set of that main rotor linkage ball, this one for the TRex 450, so I figured it'll work.

I'm just waiting for my servo as the one I posted above seems to be busted (moves too slowly). I reckon the new servo will be arriving later today.

All I need is a c-channel which I'm looking to fashion with aluminium or styrene, then assemble the thing and hope it works.

atc, if you have a spare Heng Long Panther/PzIII/PzIV elevation unit you can re-use the c channel from it. That's is what I used most of the time (You can get the Heng Long c channel separately from Tank Army also.)

A "C" channel? 8O From the person I saw fabricate so many aspects of the M1? Plaststruct makes C channels and the come in little less than a foot long each...a bag contains about four ...this might sound Ghetto...but you can also use tin from the top of a can ...and bend it with some needle nose pliers ;)

Good Luck ATC
