Some guys that I would challenge on Remote...would just run away lol....no fun after awhile...like control line bettergreengiant wrote:These guys all used a rather basic rc control. three control functions, up/down. rudder, and bank. the engines ran at full speed but they would put on propellers with different pitches to control air speed. The planes had big control surfaces so they reacted very fast. Watching them I used to wonder how they managed to do the battle while running full speed and not crash or get crashed into.

Control line is a thing of the past ...kind of sad...but the kits are getting harder to get...and the planes that used to cost a few dollars are considered collectors items now...and command some unreal pricesDid see at another location the same thing you talk about with the tethered controls. Only two guys at a time battled in kind of an elimination tournament until they had a winner. Saw some crashes there mostly when they crossed up each others control lines and both planes went down, but actually much fewer then I expected.

The best thing is to design your own....I could probably make copies of the Combat Wombat we used to fly....but there just isn't enough participation anymore...plus the motors are getting harder to get too..as everything is going electric now
