Is your 251 1/18? I haven't really started learning about flak guns yet, and so far I just have this 1/18 88 mm and a few PAK 40s. I saw a thread where a guy took a 1/18 M16 quad .50 halftrack and made it into a scout car. Can't remember the number for the scout car. M something.

The point is I have one of those 1/18 M16s so I'm thinking about doing the scout car. And someday I need a better Kubel. Mine's just stock Tamiya RC so it's go like crazy and dead stop and steering is all the way right, all the way left and center. And of course no sound.

Get the Blitz!! Then I'll have someone to help me figure it out.

Max, yes my 251 is 1/18th scale however the 1/16 scale Asiatam 251 tracks fit it perfectly so I'm going to have to say its close enough that it doesn't matter. Your 88 is the same one I have however I bought it as a kit that I have to build so I hope to be able to detail some more then the pre-built version.

As for the M16 half track or "Purple Heart Box" if you prefer, I had one and didn't much care for it. Damn thing couldn't make it across my yard without throwing a track so I sold it.

but look at it closely. It comes with the motor but that's all. No lights, sound cables, mother board, nothing. How do you plan to run it? Elmod makes a good board and Asiatam offers theirs for 109 EUR. The truck I got was 425 EUR compared to 300 EUR at rctank.de, but I also got the mother board, 109 EUR, the case (not a necessary item at all, but still very nice) 25 EUR, the TX, 42 EUR (can get the same TX from HK for much less), servo, 12 EUR, indicator lights, 8 EUR, speaker, 5.60 EUR, and I don't see the tool kit in Dominique's kit. It's hard to tell what's in those bags in the photo but the photos of the assembled truck show most of the bits like mirrors and tool boxes. So once you buy the kit for 300 EUR it will cost another 100 to 200 EUR to add the rest of the stuff I got with mine for 425 EUR, plus mine is assembled and wired with all the lights and the board in place. That's kind of a disadvantage when it comes to painting it, but I'll want to remove a few items in order to install the servo and the battery and switch and what not. I think I can just remove the cab and bed and I'll be able to finish the work to get it running and get the battery storage and on/off switch placement and all the rest sorted out.

So I guess what I'm saying is to look around very carefully and make sure you have all the info before you decide. I studied the elmod and all the different kit offerings and options like command trucks and fire trucks and the ever popular tanker truck, and I finally decided that for me this "full option" kit was the best move. It's a pretty good chunk of loot to throw out so it warrants a bit of caution, eh?

Sorry to hear you had bad luck with the halftrack. I have two of them and they both run great. I've thrown a track one time on carpet but that's it. Not much range, though. 50 feet is about all I get with these, so I thought about a better board but the elmod is so expensive. The Asp can run a halftrack but even that's over $150 US.

So shipping KILLS me. So the one advertised in $ and not £ or € works great for me as I hope that means it's already here and I won't have to sell a kidney to pay for shipping charges. The radio gear is no big deal, I can pick it up at the local hobby shop, I don't care about sound for it as there's no place to put the speakers! Radio gear I can pick up for under $50. I definitely understand where your coming from but as I said shipping kills me.

Yeah, I'm in the US too, so I've learned that shipping can make or break a deal. When I needed two pinions from asiatam I found out the pinions themselves would be less than $4 for two of them, and it was $33 to send them to me! I just waited on the pinions till I ordered the blitz. The truck advertised in dollars is NOT in the US. A lot of sites have US dollars as the default price. RCTA is in Australia but the website lists all prices in US dollars, so again, you have to be careful. It took almost three weeks for my blitz to get here from Asiatam.

The little speaker that comes with the truck should fit under the hood so I should get good sounds. This board even has a horn honking sound. If you just want to install a speed controller and a servo for steering then the kit is the way to go, but again, check prices and shipping. Carson told me what it would cost for shipping but I erased that email when I ordered from Asiatam. But, I think it was around 60 bucks! Shipping from asiatam was $29. If I were you I'd email both rctank.de and DKLM and ask for a total price, including shipping, and then decide. I've seen cases where one place will have something cheaper, but their shipping costs eat up the savings so I'd be better off to pay a couple bucks extra for the item and much less in shipping, ya know? Anyway, I really hope you get the truck and we can kind of work together to make them both really excellent RC models. Also, as you're doing your research on the truck I'd really appreciate it if you'd let me know if you find any driver figures besides the one I got from Asiatam.
