Box opening, Opel Blitz

Post by Max-U52 »

Hey, Guys, I just got something I've been working towards for what seems like forever, an Opel Blitz from Asiatam. A more experienced member suggested I post the box opening here and then start a thread on the upcoming paint and other work in rc cars/trucks so that's exactly what I plan to do. Sooo, if you want to watch me open the box you can find the video here

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWyER0zwmBw

This video link is also posted in general questions, where I'm looking for info on this truck.

Now, I do these videos kind of frequently but it's rare I get a box this big, so instead of doing it on the usual table I moved to the floor and I didn't do a very good job on this video. I should have tilted the camera up more, or made sure to keep the items lower in the frame. Unfortunately, you only get one take on a box opening video, so now I just have to live with it, but I'll do more stuff on this truck in the future.

I still haven't figured out how to post the video itself here instead of just the link, but I'll get it eventually.

My next major Asiatam purchase will be a Famo, but that won't be until next spring at the earliest.

My next box opening video will be for the Imex Jagdtiger, which should be here next week, and I'll learn from this video's errors to see if I can't get it right next time. :)

Thanks, Alpha. I still don't understand how to make the video appear in the post like you did, but you have to remember that saying I'm not real good with computers is an understatement of truly epic proportion. So how did you make that video appear? I tried copying the address from youtube and using both the youtube and url buttons in several different sequences and it pretty much just laughs at me. Every time I hit preview I can hear it chuckling when the video fails to appear. :'(

Oh yeah, when the JT gets here there will also be lots of other good stuff in there, one of the best being the brand new airsoft w/barrel recoil turret. That's going on the Tiger with the Asp.

The truck was 378.15 EUR and shipping was 29.00 EUR. In US dollars the entire box with two figures, the tires, 4 pinion gears and the truck & electronics was $504.00 delivered.

My problem is that I have this totally mad desire to build an entire Meillerwagen convoy, with a V-2 that will actually launch (right now I only have a static V-2). That means at least one more Blitz, I'll have to scratchbuild a Hanomag SS-100 (maybe two if I do the oxygen bowser) and the Meillerwagen itself, and I'll also need a Famo and an Sd.Kfz.251. Yes, there have been doubts as to my sanity.

Don't feel bad Max....I don't know how to make videos to post...just know how to post them from youtube :{

When I said Garbage ...meant all the packing material lol....pros and cons to that stuff....most of the time it just fills up the trash can lol..especially that bubble stuff ...you almost have to pop all the air out before disposing of it ;)
That gun unit is the one everyone is waiting for....I'm just curious how much space it requires...as it might be that it won't fit in all applications ...Taigen's recoil unit is way bigger that I thought....so I hope they did some tweaks that makes the combo a little smaller ;)

Hey Alpha, I knew what you meant. It can be a hassle to dispose of that stuff, especially since where I live they're really picky about cardboard. Must be cut to size and wrapped with string and all that or the garbage man won't take it. I usually keep it (the bubble wrap) if it's in good shape because it seems I'm always sending stuff out to guys. It got to the point where I just set up an account at the post office website so I can pay postage with paypal and print out mailing labels.

Have you seen the video about airsoft recoil at the Taigen Tanks youtube channel? Erik tears it down so you can see how it's put together. I'm just wondering how it's gonna run with the Asp, and if I'll have to change anything to get it to work. And of course I have to paint it and all that, but I already have the paint, the decals, and I even have an Iwata. :)

Photography is something else this hobby has led me to and I'm having a lot of fun with that, too. I started with a Kodak instamatic and then got a Mobius and just recently I picked up a cannon Rebel T5 and I'm having a lot of fun with that. The FPV has been a blast. Here's a link to a 45 second video that I think is pretty cool, and would be a perfect candidate to just post in a thread.

The far Tiger is providing the voice and music with the Asp, and the near Tiger that starts up and drives away is on an IBU2. I love doin' this kind of stuff. Tomorrow I'm going to a Battleday for The Detroit Tank Command and I'll do my best to get lots of photos and videos. I already found the board to post that on. :haha:

I want to get this truck and I'm thinking of making it #1 on my Christmas list however when I go to the Asiatam page the truck is not there anymore, did you buy the last one? I want the 4 wheel drive version as well because not much reason not to get it over the 2 wheel drive version.

As for that Famo, TOO expensive for me! I'm building my 251 from 21st century toys into a working version so I'll just stick with it to tow my flak 41 88mm field gun around until I can get this truck.

Try this link for the truck

http://www.asiatam.com/product_info.php ... offer.html

Is your 251 1/18? I haven't really started learning about flak guns yet, and so far I just have this 1/18 88 mm and a few PAK 40s. I saw a thread where a guy took a 1/18 M16 quad .50 halftrack and made it into a scout car. Can't remember the number for the scout car. M something. :haha:

The point is I have one of those 1/18 M16s so I'm thinking about doing the scout car. And someday I need a better Kubel. Mine's just stock Tamiya RC so it's go like crazy and dead stop and steering is all the way right, all the way left and center. And of course no sound.

Get the Blitz!! Then I'll have someone to help me figure it out. :)
