Finishing off lower hull by making tin diffuser so exhaust smoke appears to be coming more from the exhaust grill them just shooting straight out. Also did away with the to and bottom of the exhaust grill flange ( the on HL included is ment to be used to add a very large diffuser over the exhaust grill and I've only seen one or two pictures with the flange and only one with the actual large diffuser mounted ).

Got correct weight to make suspension use all the travel it has.
The first two pics are without the added weight the second two are with the weight installed ( weight equals about what 5 additional battery packs would weigh).
Added covers over slots that run through hull for road wheel arms to keep gunk out of hull. The right side pegs on the arms need to be sanded slightly as the very ends stuck out a tiny bit into the hull, the left side ones did not.
If you make these covers make sure you use a very thin amount of super glue and only on the very outside edges of the styrene squares or it may wick its way to the road wheel pegs sticking them in place.

This first batch of pics are a way to get the nonslip surface on the tanks upper hull. All Abrams in service since the gulf war have this coating painted on.
I used sandbox sand that I sifted down as much as possible so I only had the smallest particles. It ended up a little thicker looking then I wanted but I think as I add more coats of paint that will diminish.
Tomorrow I will start to do the same thing to the turret.
Awesome " how to" I was wondering how to do this ...... 8)

How to make the commanders copula movable and operating gunners sight doors .

The whole copula will rotate which I discovers is not correct for Any A2 Abrams since the copula is stationary and only the 50 cal gun mount ring rotates on the copula.

At the end of this build thread I will post new picture of how I corrected my mistake.

Hi Greengiant some brilliant and innovative build tips there and especially like the tip on blank negative for red-tinted periscope, coming along really well. Following with great interest.  Alwyn
