i took it out in the damp mud was good in the woodland
but got lots of mud in the tracks ive let it dry and drove it quite a lot come off
still a bit on there
how do you guys clean your tracks thanks

I tend to agree with Bill on this however if you insist on a "clean" tank you can either remove the tracks and rinse them in the sink with hot water OR if you don't feel like taking it apart take it to the bathtub and drive it back and forth in about a 1/2 inch of hot water and that should get them clean. If you have a hand shower that works great too, again hot water and hose it off but MAKE SURE you DO NOT get water inside the hull on the electronics or you run the risk of damaging them.

I let mine sit up on the media room cabinet, dirty...............when it goes dry, any movement will knock the dirt off.
Left a cool trail of track tread prints on the black cabinet that I asked our cleaner to not touch

To get heavy accumulations of dried dirt off, I use canned air, not a compressor\air attachment. Using a compressor, you stand a good chance of getting dust\contaminants blown inside your track pin housings and\or tank. After the canned air treatment, leave the rest of the dust alone, looks cool since it _is_ a tank. ;o) If you have to have absolutely spotless tracks, pull a pin, remove the tracks and get out a stiff brush. Add some light oil if you have metal tracks.

i had to take all the tracks off and get all the hard dirt out with a hard brush so can mud damage anything?
and i was thinking they mine need some oil to stop them rusting how do you do that?

Mud is ok if it's just mud but in the early Tiger it can jam in the wheels and put side ways pressure on them. The big enemy is grit or small stones which can get stuck in idlers or between wheels. A stone in the idler can lead to detracking or stress as it tries to stretch a track. If the tracks are plastic they will probably break first but otherwise put pressure on the idler arm and in turn the hull and gearbox.

Wet sand is the biggest danger to tracks, it will kill plastic tracks and is pretty unhealthy to metal tracks if they're open pin ones like you get on most tanks. I think only Kenny Kong, DKLM and Impact tracks are true closed pin.
