It continued once again with electronics, the slip ring is prepared for installation. Due to the fact that I need a lot of connections between hull and turret, I had also a slightly more expensive version of the slip ring (24 poles - so I had also a little buffer); variants with a smaller number of connections are of course cheaper - my will cost me almost 50 € - but a) I wanted to try this part and b) can I so now comfortable fight, I don't need to count how many turns my turret has made.
Furthermore I've mounted the turret rotation ring from Leo 2A6 by Tamiya for soft turret rotate - and to anticipate it - yes, he fits.



At many solder joints you need a lot of heat shrink tubes; I've divided my heat shrink tubes in three parts; the length was so sufficiently.



In my turret must both servos (gun elevation and recoil), the gun flash and of course the wires of the CSI be soldered. The plug of my servos I've separated shortly behind the cable and then extended.



The two cut-off plugs were then used later in the lower hull to connect the servos with the sockets on the ElMod.





Now to my upper hull, the rotation ring installation was at the agenda. First I've built a stencil to transfer a few "peculiarities" of the hull better to my 2 mm thick poly-plate.



Again time for my fretsaw - I cut a pretty big hole in the upper hull, so that the rotation ring is flush with the upper hull.



Then from the mask the peculiarities transferred to the poly-plate (the position of the two reinforcements), drilled and also cut with the fretsaw.



I've him ready - the structural work of this retaining ring...



Also the slewing ring from Tamiya has to be adapted; all sprues were ground flat.



The retaining ring was screwed from the bottom with 6 mm long M2 countersunk screws to the upper hull.



Immediately afterwards followed the fixed part of the slewing ring; this was also screwed with M2 screws to the retaining ring, here's the view from below.



Here are later from both sides the ball cages of the slewing ring. From above it looked then now this:



Finally, the splinter guard ring was mounted again - well that he was also screwed (like at the original).



Now only the areas within the splinter guard ring still need to be filled and sanded.



Further then next time at the turret.

As announced, follows now the installation of the slewing ring into the turret. This requires that this part also be exempted from the sprues, so that it can be installed flush with the bottom plate of the turret.



Furthermore I had to cut out the bottom plate of the turret, it is very tight, from the turret bottom is virtually nothing left. The two lateral screw fixings I didn't cut out from the bottom plate, they will needed to fix the bottom plate to the upper turret part.



Now I had to adjust the Leo 2A6 slewing ring to this particular form, took some time, but what takes long...

...and with attached turret from bottom. This to check, if he was not forced at any point and then no longer fits properly to the upper half of the turret.



Then I cut out also a retaining ring from a 2 mm Poly plate for the turret and adjusted him.





Trial fitting with slewing ring.



At this point I need also a driving ring for my slip ring; this was also cut out from a poly plate.



Holes were drilled in the places where later the slewing ring should intervene in the driving ring and then...



...inside and outside sawn with a fret saw and a bit adapted in the region of the recesses.



And once again trial fitting - it fits.

The driving ring plate is also screwed with M2 screws on the upper half of slewing ring of the turret, here is a view from below...



…and here one from inside.



The slewing ring must now only still screwed into the bottom of the turret; but previously must the retaining ring to be glued into the turret.



The slip ring was also screwed into the drive ring, it were used 3 pieces M4 allen screws.



Here's a picture of the mounted slip ring; the cables were inside the tower by a screwed cable gland held together and leading in one direction (opposite side of the recoil unit).



Another view of the whole from below.



Then was the first ball cage placed on the bottom of the turret, the upper hull thereon, in this part slewing ring again a ball cage and finally the counterpart of the slewing ring. Everything bolted together and it was finished so far. Carried out a few turns and approved.



The holder for the turret rotation motor was glued again of several layers of polystyrene plates.



Here they are nice to see - the different shapes of the plates and already marked the holes for the screws.



As recommended location I chose the chain cover behind the bulkhead at the radio man side, directly behind then the socket for the custom turret plug.



Here again from a different perspective. The original Tamiya connector cable was then unsoldered and my existing cable for turret rotation soldered.



Finally I changed the allen screws of the slip ring against countersunk screws M 4; this to prevent that a cable is hanging when turning the turret and tear off.
