Its unsuitable for the parts he'll be using it on, on the Tamiya Leo 2 there are 8 track guide wheel mounts and 10 piston housings which attach to the side of the tank and all subject to load and side ways sheering forces. I used epoxy on mine but a special ABS capable cement would probably more ideal.ALPHA wrote: PS... I just realized I may have written this all for not... as super glue is something Brizo doesn't want to use...though I will say... use it don't be afraid ...you will find it makes for a fast strong build
Sounds complicated bill...never built a Tamiya Leo before... so not sure what parts you are speaking of....I'm just not certain why my builds were recommended as something to look at ...all I know is I've used fast setting CrC type glues since forever... even on PVC type of polymer...the only kind of plastic I don't use it on is Plexi glass...but that has it's own adhesive ... and I would never recommend using that on a model ...as it would melt a hole in itbillpe wrote:Its unsuitable for the parts he'll be using it on, on the Tamiya Leo 2 there are 8 track guide wheel mounts and 10 piston housings which attach to the side of the tank and all subject to load and side ways sheering forces. A great Idea.... Some photos of your buildbrizo58 wrote:Hi guys,
Well the Leopard 2 A6 arrived 10.30 this morninggod it"s a big box. Got it from Alex-Modellbau.
Good price to £630.00. And about the ABS glue ordered that from them today as well as some extra thin glue both Tamiya. So now got to think about what upgrades to get. Any ideas on that would most welcome.

Congrats! Oddly, its a smaller box than the other Tamiyas but the actual tank is massive. The turret alone is not far off the same length as the Tiger 1.brizo58 wrote:Hi guys,

I've never really thought of using CRC Epoxy Resin on a model - I've used it on a boat some years ago. Is it fine enough to use on small joins?ALPHA wrote:Sounds complicated bill...never built a Tamiya Leo before... so not sure what parts you are speaking of....I'm just not certain why my builds were recommended as something to look at ...all I know is I've used fast setting CrC type glues since forever... even on PVC type of polymer...the only kind of plastic I don't use it on is Plexi glass...but that has it's own adhesive ... and I would never recommend using that on a model ...as it would melt a hole in itbillpe wrote:Its unsuitable for the parts he'll be using it on, on the Tamiya Leo 2 there are 8 track guide wheel mounts and 10 piston housings which attach to the side of the tank and all subject to load and side ways sheering forces. ...similar results would be had with PVC glues ...I like two part epoxies ... buy you know... I just don't use them on models....don't really care how some just stay soft...you know ...if you poke it with a scribe or something... the surface of the epoxy is never "hard"

Once again using my L70 as an example.... the way I removed the dried (over three years hard) was to get an exacto chisel blade and scrape it off... it came off surprisingly easy ...this is something that would never happen with the way I have practiced using CrC type epoxy you would need a saw... and there is a good chance you would ruin or damage your saw or model ...and this is in less than 15 mins of application![]()

I wouldn't be able to say with any certainty Bill... but I pretty much use the stuff exclusively ....for small joins (not sure how small your joins are)...large seams... small imperfections in castings etc....I don't have to use any fillers because of it....and the final product is very sturdy and strong...I only wish you could see and hold my L70... it feels like a one piece casting...there is nothing on that tank that will come loose... unless of course .... I take a hammer to it ...and even then the hammer might bounce a few timesbillpe wrote: I've never really thought of using CRC Epoxy Resin on a model - I've used it on a boat some years ago.
