Good Morning,
Owning real armor has turned into a Museum or Rich Man's Hobby. I should have bought a Sherman when I was young and they could be had for 5 - 10,000 dollars in drivable condition. Ah well, another case of 'shoulda, woulda, coulda'. At least these vehicles of immense historical significance are being taken care of by collectors who can afford the upkeep.

I went to My Littlefields museum last year and was glad of it. The familly holiday was all about 'them' and I had but 1 day for me. And this was it.
A shame to break the collection up, but understandable. I really feel for the volunteer curators and guides, they will take this to heart I believe.
The audacity and 'Elan shown by Mr Littlefield to literally buy of the battlefield is something to be inspired by.
The opportunity to vist was a privelidge.
And I have one of the last Panther tee shirts they had printed & for sale.

It is a tragedy in a way Herman... It's too bad there weren't any trusts or other finances set aside to keep the collection intact ...Perhaps the Logic behind the auction arranged as it is... So the vehicles get into the hands of people who can appreciate and maintain them

A lot of stuff is excluded from the auction brochure. Considering the price tag on the unrestored Panzer IV, I wonder what Panther would go for. I was in Belgrade a few years ago where they have a tank collection on display. Unfortnately they did'nt seem to appreciate the vale of the vehicles. People had dumped rubbish into them. Collection includes Panzer IV and Stug III.
