This guy can pull off holding it, barely...so yes, it will end up as turret ornamentation like Pool's tommygun on 'In The Mood'.

I have to admit Painless... after doing RC tankery for what...6 months... there is nothing like it.... I can't fly a plane in my house ..nor power up a boat or car...my Airsoft guns freak out the Neighbors .... but these tanks... Anywhere and everywhere...they turn heads... arouse curiosity..It is a fantastic hobby...from any standpoint... whether for experienced modeller or joe blow running a RTR

And yes... that is a nice touch to Maxene... though is it the "finishing" touch

Good Morning, Alpha,
As I sit here with the giant turret of a 754(r) on my desk before me, I must say that no, the Map Case is probably not the finishing touch to 'Maxene'. I believe that we reach plateaus with these builds where we are satisfied with the work done_for the moment_. There always is something else that will be found on the tank that could use improvement as the Hobby itself introduces new and more wonderful ways to mod and improve. We are all along for the trip. ;o)

Could not agree more Painless, I am always looking for the next little detail to work on, or challenge to correct. I don't really consider any of mine to be "finished". There is always that one last thing

I also agree with what both of you have said... there is so much satisfaction getting to a point...perhaps the "goal" of the finished build...the aspect of revisiting the build to enhance it even more... just adds more to the enjoyment of the hobby
I wish I had found how much fun this hobby really is.. sooner....though I do like the idea of how it is progressing now...with companies producing better performing and better varieties of tanks

Can't wait for the new releases from Heng Long...and Mato

Jumping into the Thread again years later! Some months ago, I had modified the idlers on 'Maxene' to add a couple of HL wheel covers\MATO metal idlers to give the tank the correct number of idler spokes on those idlers and correct some side to side track slop. These had come from Sassgrunt and were a 'finishing' touch on my ol' Grrl. Of course, I installed them and if the tank was going forward, no issues. Hit reverse and the idlers would unscrew themselves. :oP I finally got around to fixing this last night ( seven hours of standup and it was_not_ comedy ). I installed a set of the MATO adjustable metal idlers that I had ordered some time ago and stored up against the day. I used the same modified covers from Sassgrunt and it turned out very well. ( This fix is not something you should just jump up and decide to do at 5:00 pm in the early evening ) Completed, tho, the running gear on this tank should be as bullet proof as it's all metal cousin from MATO now.
