sweet as mate. Its just likeI thought they should look - pliable, used & replaced, and once painting & weathering is done - authentic.
Now you got me............the 1/2" removed ? from one of the thimble ends of the cables I get, but how ?
The cables look a million bucks, and in the real life comparrison these would have sat a fair old while completely overlooked from the factory until they were needed, and that would have largely depended on the season & circumstance.
Plenty of scope for visual interpretation.
Its a weekend coming up on me now and Im back from the field to find another box of goodies on my bench, looking forward to a productive couple of days...............Thanks Mr Cuppa, your work is inspirational.

Hi Herman

What i did was to cut the cable at one end flush with the ferrule and then drill out the copper cable from the ferrule and then glue the shortened cable back into the ferrule.

Getting back to m/g ball mounts, www.etoarmour.com do a complete Tiger 1 metal ball mount and with the judicious use of a small round file and a pin vise you can put aside the brass mg provided and fit the working Heng Long/Taigen/Torro m/g you already have, the ball mount has provision for hooking up to a servo if you want to go all the way, the downside? is cost, it is not cheap but it is top quality.

Been looking at some of the other tiger builds going on here - amazing stuff but sadly even coming close to them is way beyond my skills (or rather lack of skills).
One good thing though is that having given up smoking (been over three months now) has freed up some funds so I have been able to use some nicer parts such as the Taigen lower hull so at least it now runs in a fashion i am happy with. Yesterday i spent a couple of hours on the model but far more time reading up on Tigers on the internet. Must admit I am starting to get hooked on Tiger history.

How'd you go with the Ferhmann Gruppe research mate..............there is something about it that keeps me coming back.
One part missing of the recorded history of this unit-period is ,precicely who had the Tigers before they were seconded , where they were procured, fueled, munitioned, etc etc before charging off into combat. These vehicles were renumbered (suggesting formal recognition), a mixture of several Tigers, Panthers, and support vehicles. The unit commander was fairly well recorded, and his actions historically significant enough to last the test of time.
All very brief and matter-of-fact to me.
The action history seemed to be worthy of many pictures of the invoilved vehicles post battle, yet there is not really that much background published on events and surrounding circumstances leading up to the Gruppe's formation.
This unit is almost like a fabled "Steiner" kampfgruppe..............the phantom saviour of a doomed empire.

Happy days!

i spent a very happy hour test driving the Tiger outdoors today. First time in what seems like forever that our garden has been dry enough. It worked a treat and I am one happy camper. Now to prep it for paint................

Thinking about the paint i am not sure what to do. For some strange reason i am quite keen on the panzer grey turret and dark yellow hull combination as depicted for Tiger F05 but lack the skills to produce a 'rolling wreck' appearance that would be in any way convincing. I am not going to try and reproduce accurately any specific Tiger - what I am after is a model that yells 'Tiger!' when viewed. To me Tigers have a certain air of menace about them so that is what I am aiming for. Even though the hull is more mid than late Tiger I am going to retain the late road wheels simply because I much prefer the way they look and also because it runs so darn well with those wheels. So at the moment I am just not sure which way to go with the paint but grey turret and dunkelgelb hull keeps flashing through my mind..............................................

So it IS going to be a Ferhman .................I agree that the used look is a hard one to replicate, part of the reason I did not venture down that road. The grey/yellow combination by alone will lend itself to a missmatched hasty look and with your usual attention to details elsewhere , it will easily be a winner.
There are several of the 'Gruppe' that cannot be catagorically 'pictured' so yours if numbered correctly can be one that has no known picture or recorded form............until you give it one.
