Tiger 1 build

Post by cupoftea »

Perhaps a bit ambitious posting two builds at once but while my Sherman awaits the purchase of some parts and paint I decided to 'have a go at my Tiger 1. This was my first tank and rather than leave it as it was (Heng Long grey) I decided to paint it dark yellow but go for a 'washed out' well used look. This is my first attempt at weathering and I would welcome any opinions/comments good or bad. In the flesh the colours look quite a bit darker I guess the camera flash is not kind to the colours.

The tank uses my 'hybrid' drive system and other than 4:1 gearboxes and metal sprockets is more or less stock.

Here are a few pictures of the Tiger as of this morning:

Hi

Looks great, the weathering looks just right in my book, subtle but enough to give the impression of use :D .

Don't forget to paint in the rubber tyres on those early wheels

I really like the colour modulation you achieved with the paint, really makes the Finnish stand out, well done indeed :D

Decals have arrived. So far I have only fitted the fire extinguisher decal - such fun (not really it was some sort of fiddle but i got there in the end).

Good Morning,
That is a beautiful build, CoT. It has your neat and clean touches with wiring, details and paint which are fast becoming signature. By all means, please keep the pics coming,
regards,
Painless

Sharp looking Tiger, like that clean looking lower hull. Well done with the wiring job...
