Re: Voyager: new 1/16 Tiger 1 photo etch announced
Hi TFTM, I recently ordered a set of front fenders for a Tiger 1 (VOYAGER) from hobby space and it took a bit longer than 10 days but although I had not ordered them I also got the rear fenders and exhaust shrouds and all for less than £12, like you I was a little wary about dealing with an unknown company (unknown to me) and as you say it is almost as though they do not want us to know the contents of this aladdins cave. but this is now the first place I look when I need things for a tank, you are right about the difficulty in finding 1/16 stuff on this site, but the searching out the unusual is part of the reason I enjoy this hobby, take care. shaun
I think I am about to upset someone

Shaun - I couldn't agree more! There's an Alladin's Cave out there all right!
It's going to take a while for me to get these up and running - too late for my Normandy Tiger.
So let us have some news and photos just as soon as you can...

As far as I'm concerned I'm more than happy to find someone selling them here in the UK - so well done Forgebear!
As for whether they are suitable for an Early Tiger the answer is about 95% yes.
You will still be missing some details for the Feifel cleaners and rear tool box for example.

Glad that I got lazy with my Tiger and left it half finished. It means I didn't get too far to not include these wonderful additions!
Just bought them from hobby space, can't wait to get them. Thanks as always Tanks!
I feel renewed to continue my build now!

http://www.bnamodelworld.com/aber/ab-16050
Selling on the above site for the equivalent of just over 50 euros, the blurb states:
This is a value pack of the following sets:
- 16004 -Front fenders Tiger I, Ausf.E (Early/Late version)
- 16006 -Side fenders Tiger I, Ausf.E (Early/Late version)
- 16007 -Exhaust covers Tiger I, Ausf.E (Early/Late version)
- 16012 -8.8 cm Tiger I A/T Ammo with box
- 16 032 -German 2 meter standard Antenna
- 16051 -Rear fenders Tiger I, Ausf.E (Late version)
- 16L-03 - German barrel for tank machine gun MG 34 with Panzermantel
That means it's not the comprehensive all-round Aber set (so no hatch details for instance). Also is no front headlight mount and no turret track hangers. The kit seems to be aimed at the Hobby Boss Tiger (it mentions it on the label).
In reality the only changes from the early model set seem to be the later pattern rear mudguards and (perhaps) the armoured MG.
Although the Voyager set does miss some of the details (e.g. it also leaves you with the very poor Hobby Boss track hangers) using the Aber set alone would leave you with a lot missing if you were trying to upgrade a Heng Long or Tamiya Tiger.
So for my money the Voyager sets still have the edge.
