Voyager: new 1/16 Tiger 1 photo etch announced
Or rather just when I have finished most of the up-grades to my HL Tiger 1 - see link at bottom of this post.
Along comes this very nice looking photo etch up-grade package from Voyager.
Slightly bizarrely they say this is for the Trumpeter Tiger 1 - in fact it is clearly the Hobbyboss (Hobby Boss?) 1/16 Tiger - perhaps they are the same company. Of course it will do for HL Tigers just as well.
It looks absolutely fantastic and, since it is by Voyager, I am hoping that it will be a lot cheaper than Aber as well as easier to put together (that is certainly true of their clamps).
It's not a complete up-grade answer of course - the turret spare track holders are not included (what you see are those which come with the Hobbyboss kit, which are barely adequate).
The sets can be bought separately as well - e.g. the side fenders.
Can't wait to see the prices.
See http://www.voyagermodel.com/productdeta ... id=PE16009 for more photos

So I would guess the Trumpeter / Hobbyboss link is the key... Too bad neither do a Panther (yet)!

Re: Voyager: new 1/16 Tiger 1 photo etch announced
I just posted the following in reply to a member asking after the Voyager front fenders. It might be useful to keep updates in the same place.
It seems that some of these PE sets have crept out, but it is odd that they aren't easier to track down.
Here's a list from the Voyager website:
16
PE16001
1/16 WWII German Clamps & Clasp early type Hold!! 2009-7-10
16
PE16002
1/16 WWII German Clamps & Clasp late type Hold!! 2009-7-10
16
PE16003
WWII German King Tiger (Hensehel Turret)Basic (FOR TRUMPETER/TAMIYA) Hold!! 2012-11-13
16
PE16004
WWII German King Tiger (Hensehel Turret) grills (FOR TRUMPETER) Hold!! 2012-11-13
16
PE16007
WWII German King Tiger Fenders(early type) (FOR TRUMPETER) Hold!! 2012-11-13
16
PE16009
WWII German Tiger I MID Production Basic (For TRUMPETER) Hold!! 2013-6-25
16
PE16011
WWII German Tiger I Fenders (For TRUMPETER) Hold!! 2013-6-25
I have highlighted the Tiger 1 parts in bold to distinguish them from the Tiger II parts.
As you can see they have release dates which suggest they have already been released - but no prices (whatever 'Hold!' means.)
Something else which is a bit odd - some of the sets originally listed have disappeared. For example PE16010 were the side skirts. PE16012 were, I believe, the exhaust shields.
I have been checking regularly since and have not found them available from any regular site anywhere. I have seen some pop up then disappear on ebay, usually from far eastern sellers.
OK, here's the fender set from a Chinese ebay-like site:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Voyager- ... 07152.html
Shipping seems remarkably cheap too (even if it's slow)!
This does seem to prove that they exist!

TFTM, The front fenders are even as we speak about to board the proverbial slow boat from? China to my waiting Tiger 1 thanks to your help. Anyone looking at Aliexpress site you will see the Voyager list but finding any 1/16 photo etch is very hard work which makes TANKS FOR THE MEMORIES work finding it even more to be praised. Well done sir. shaun

Re: Voyager: new 1/16 Tiger 1 photo etch announced
Part of the problem seems to be that sellers are listing the parts without mentioning the scale. So 'Voyager Tiger 1/16' doesn't work for instance. Meanwhile they DO mention Trumpeter which is, as we know, something of a red herring...

Re: Voyager: new 1/16 Tiger 1 photo etch announced
How I managed to obtain the full set
There has been some recent discussion on this topic, e.g.
http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/v ... 18#p102518
but I think we should try to keep it under one roof if we can.
Ever since I saw these Voyager sets advertised I have wanted to get my clutches on them - and now I have!
THEY ARE NOT A DISAPPOINTMENT.
For some bizarre reason they don't seem to be marketed at all well - at least no one in the Western Hemisphere seems to be selling them at present and they are only sighted on ebay at irregular intervals. Hopefully this will change, because these are a real alternative to Aber's Tiger 1 up-grades and a whole lot cheaper to boot.
I found mine on a Chinese site called http://hobby-space.com/
A few years ago I wouldn't have been at all happy paying for anything on an untested Chinese website - but this one was a dream. They take Paypal and ship fast. Mine were one their way a day after ordering and arrived within less than 10 days.
Here is what I paid:
Voyager PE16010 WWII German Tiger I side skirts (For TRUMPETER) 1 $13.20
Voyager PE16012 WWII German Tiger I grills (For TRUMPETER) 1 $6.60
Voyager PE16011 WWII German Tiger I Fenders (For TRUMPETER) 1 $16.00
Voyager PE16009 WWII German Tiger I MID Production Basic (For TRUMPETER) 1 $16.00
Order Totals
Subtotal: $51.80 Thanks again for shopping with us!
Tax: $0.00
Shipping and Handling: $6.23
Total: $58.03
I will report on these in more detail once I have had a chance to open them up, but the good news is that they seem to contain almost everything you need to upgrade the details on a Heng Long / Hobby Boss / Tamiya Tiger.
