Davai, Davai.................Nice choice of subject mate. The Soviet deployment of the 'Lend-lease' hardware is renowned, and the versatility of the ubiquitous Sherman is endorsed by the conditions, training, operations, tactical misuse of them as a weapon by their erstwhile owners. Cuppa ole -mate, I guess you are about to pull off a coup by rolling out a winter whitewash scheme as well.

Sorry Herman - no winter whitewash. I don't posses the necessary skills and would not want to start over yet again when it did not turn out right. Today I am going to finish the tools and then have a go at making a soviet style towing cable. I also need to make some wooden crates.

I think you made a good decision cupotea.... it's nice to see a variant of the SHERMAN done up like this ...Those are HENG LONG decals? I wouldn't have guessed ... I don't ever use mine...just file them away ...the application is very well done...I've always had problems lining those rub ons up..no matter what brand they are.cupoftea wrote:Thanks Alpha. For some reason i wanted to do something different rather than use US markings. I may be in minority of one on this but the Heng Long transfers work well for me. Guess it sure is different but I hope it does not offend the purists and, from what i have read, the Russians were supplied with approx 7,000 shermans under lend-lease. Next cosmetic job will be to start work on the stores it will carry. These projects never seem to end. As soon as I start to think 'done' another idea crops up.ALPHA wrote:![]()

Good Morning, Cupoftea.
You have a winner there, Sir. ;o) The fading is subtle but definitely there.

Re: Heng Long Sherman
Thanks Painless - it is not in the same league as your build but I have enjoyed it.
As this build draws to a close I now have a problem - i have a Hobby Engine Leopard 2 I was going to build next but now i badly want to do another Sherman so I guess the Leopard may have to wait quite a while longer. Think I will start saving the pennies and get another Sherman, Somehow it just has to be.

Re: Heng Long Sherman
Cup,
I don't think that my Sherman is any great boots compared to other folks' builds on here, especially, including yours. All I have done is do some research, build and\or add on detail bits and do a little wiring. The paint is turning out nicely but that is only because I have learned from great painters I chat with like Phil and Pale Painter and Jeff1101. Sassgrunt and Alpha have helped incredibly, shipping parts and giving Know-How free of charge. The inspiration to do one more little bit to make it a better tank comes from everyone on here who loves this hobby, whose care and enjoyment shows in their Builds. Like you. ;o) So I am proud to set my Sherman next to yours, Cup, I am pleased that it is in the League of your Build. Another Sherman? I hear you there. The more work I did on the M4A3, the less satisfied I am with my other M4A1. That Sherman will be getting a redo this year to bring it closer to par with this one.
Regards,
Painless
