Its a trick I learned years ago to strip chrome from model car parts or the paint off of Athern 1/87 locomotives to repaint them. Good luck and post pics if it works....could be a tip others could use.

that looks cool, it's got that IDF "been in the sun too long " from what i can see you haven't done enough weathering ! eg the hand rails for the hatches on the engine; the gun mantlet would have wear ! alos your accessories jerry can etc need attention. touch it up and put a coat of matt varnish on it. If it is annoying you so much then send it to me and i'll do nothing to it,call it my xmas present from you mate. you do have plenty shermans so just get another one. i did say before i reckon you own GM ! one other thing ! have you ever tried chipping ? i would guess many IDF stuff would be heavily stone chipped cue to terrain.

Hey Canned,
If I may, what you have now is reversed of what you need. It looks like it is light where is should be dark and dark where it should be light. So you can either darken the light areas or lighten even more the lighter areas. I would go for darkening the light areas by using dark washes very thin and make sure the shade is really dark compared to the original. paint it on with nice bristle brush and use a hair dryer to REALLY dry each layer. Just keep applying till you get the look you want. Try it in a little area with some detail first to see if you like it. Then when you get it where you like it do the rest of the vehicle, clear coat it with floor polish thinned down if you don't have an airbrush. Add a little chipping on the edges of things, do a black pinwash, flat coat the whole thing and it should look fine!

PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT ... It looks dirty...but damn good Canned... if you want it lighter just use the base color and fade it from a distance ...if you're using and airbrush that is.... if not.. subtle stippling with a brush will work as well
and as doc larsen said... If you don't like... gimme
