Hi,
I'm new to RC tanks and have recently purchased a HL M26 pershing but the gun elevation doesn't work and the gun is pointing at it's highest angle. I know it's not the transmitter as I can hear both the sound effect and the elevation motor running (when the sound is turned right down).
I would have returned the tank to the retailer but I stupidly broke part of the drive sprocket when running the tank through some stones.
Would anyone be kind enough to point me in the direction for things to check.
Many thanks
Mike

Re: Gun elevation not working
Hi and welcome Mike.
The elevation unit is quite basic, and the fact you can hear the motor working is a good sign. Basically the airsoft or recoil has lug arm on the back which the elevation motor pushes against and a spring pushes it back. So I think either the spring has come dislodged in transit or the lug arm has snapped off.
I try find a picture to help explain it.

Re: Gun elevation not working
Heres some pictures of my KV but all the parts are same in the Pershing.

You see the recoil attached the barrel (if you've an airsoft it still be attached the same) on the back you see a small arm at the top. And underneath the barrel and recoil you see the elevation motor which masically turns a disc with a ramp on it.

And this is it installed. What you can't is the spring which is press in beteen the turret top and the recoil/airsoft unit. Note the spring isn't securly fixing in just simple held in by pressure squeezing it.
If you need help dismantling the turret let me know.

Re: Gun elevation not working
Hi Ian,
That's fantastic. From your description and photos I expect that the plastic arm has snapped off.

Re: Gun elevation not working
Like Ian says it sounds like the lug has snapped! Or it's some how come away from the gear box ! Let hs know how you got On!

I love the smell of napalm in the morning!
Re: Gun elevation not working
Finally managed to get around to taking a look at the problem and as per your suggestion it turned out that the tab on the rear of the airsoft unit had snapped off.
I had some fun and games trying re-assemble the airsoft/mantlet fixings, whilst I had it in pieces I tidied up some of the H/L soldering and replaced the smoke unit with a proportional one.
Thanks again for your help
