Tamiya pershing is it a good buy?

Post by Jack9413 »

Nowthen after bergetiger is complete I will be going after a allied tank, the Pershing sounds good but is it as good as it looks? Can anyone who has a Tamiya Pershing please tell me just how it goes together and the pros and cons. This will be most helpful.
Thank you all.

Its a very good tank - it has additional reduction outdrives that aid in drivetrain longevity to no end. The tracks are durable and trouble free. It is one of the few tanks that come fully kitted out with running lights, gun recoil, and all (WW2 German tanks get no lights, and the Sherman 105mm gets no recoil, the M51 gets no lights). And the Ford V8 is easily the loudest and best sounding of all the Tamiya tank engine sounds.

Buildwise the hull is cramped and you'd best use a LiPo pack. As someone else had put it, cable hygiene is important to ensure that your Pershing can traverse its turret smoothly. Structure-wise it is very robust, with cast metal suspension arms and a plastic tub chassis strengthened with an internal metal frame. Servicing it can be difficult, removing the gearboxes requires a complete chassis strip-down.

It can be a bit challenging for a first time builder which I am sure you're not, so I imagine the challenge that it presents would actually be welcome.

Thank you for the help, the challenge does sound interesting. The Pershing sounds like a brilliant tank and is a potential new member to my colection.
Thanks again.
