Hi guys, thought i would introduce myself, names Kev, have a Tamiya KT (old twin clutch version, but modified with Impact reduction gearboxes) all electrics ripped out and Heng Long RX14 board fitted and wired up. Also Heng Long Tiger 1, Tiki model, metal tracks, gearboxes.

I did read somewhere i think on another forum about a tank meet somewhere in Nottingham? is this still on, i would like to meet up with fellow tankers and chat.

thanks for that Tony, the photos are on my other computer, i will post some. I would like to know if anyone knows how to make a paint wash, i need a wash to put on my KT to make the camo a bit duller. I have got myself some tamiya weathering kits, i have tried them but cant seem to get them right. I have ordered a tin of Dullcote to coat the KT in once i have done all my weathering, i may try some battle damage as well, so if anyone has any ideas/tips for me, i would appreciate it.

hi kev
there is probably quite a few ways of making a wash for youre tank, the way i do it is to put 5%paint and 95% thinners in a jar and give it a good mix, the colour you use depends on what camo scheme you have, on my tanks i use 2 washes, 1 black, and 1mud coloured, both are made as above,

i have used the 3 tamiya colours, dark yellow, dark red brown and dark green. So what colours would you use to make a wash with out these three colours?
how would i apply it, brush? only i tried to air brush the KT, i managed to get the base coat (dark yellow) on, but tried to air brush on the brown and green patches. All i managed was to get the spray guns spitting paint out. I gave up eventually and used a brush to paint on the green/brown patches. I did get a good tip from a guy in a model shop, use car windscreen wash liquid to thin out tamiya acrylic paints. The guy told me to top up a fresh jar of paint, give it a good shake/stir then use in a spray gun and it worked spot on, i just couldn't get a fine enough line out of the cheapo spray gun, but it does work!!!

with the wash use black or for the mud colour maybe a mix of your sand and dark red brown until you get what you want

with spraying i use blutac to mask off areas such as camo gives a soft line than if you use masking tape just be careful of overspray yu could also use paper behind the blutac to stop the overspray

heres a pic of my 1/25 jagdpanther sprayed using a badger 200 and medium nozzle

i bet i miss a good weekend Rob, damm it i was  a week out!! Ive put it in my diary, will go down for the weekend, i will find a B&B somewhere, or even camp! will see everyone there. Let hope its good weather, i want to see the Tiger running.......my farther was in WW2 in the royal engineers, he was attacked on several occasions by tigers, he told me it was terrifying. The old boy who used to live next door was a tank driver in WW2, i once shown him my Tiger running in the garden, he also said it was terrifying when you heard that tigers were ahead........he said all we did was turn around and run!!! he was in a Churchill tank. No way could they combat that 88mm of the tiger. He told me that they captured a Panther tank, he said they used it as target practice to see how good it was. They shot at it head on at around 50-70 yards and the shell hit the front of the Panther and bounced 90degrees vertical off the armor.

no wonder the legged it!!!!!!! LOL
