Newguy

Post by Flying_Dutchman »

S! All,

Just dropping a quick line to introduce myself.
I've been flying RC aircraft quite a while back, and driving RC electric racecars even longer.
Ever since no time, work, kids, you know "the works".

Want to get started with RC again and was looking around.
Aircraft to much hassel and cars spending all day long for some 30 minutes actual drivng a no go either.
Wanted to do some RC-ing around the house and thought why not tanks.
So after some internet browsing I ended up here.

I completly new to RC tanking.
So i have a few quistions for you guys:
- Where do I start
- What do you recommend

My favorite tanks are the Cromwell, Sherman and the Churchill.
(the town where I live was liberated by the 1st RTR)
I'm living in the Netherlands (whats in a name :D)

Regards,

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the reply.
Looking at your sig... you're also hooked :D

I'm looking for an entry level tank, to start with.
Low cost, because I don't have any expirience running tanks, and don't know if i'm gonna get hooked like you.

Cheers,
FD

[Edit] Looking around on the forum I started to like the Stug-III.

Hey FD,
Yes mate I certainly am hooked with more on the way :D
Mate the little Stug 111's are a cool tank, they do up nice and they also look great cruising around the battlefield. I think they only come in I/R I dont think they make a BB version. They all seem to be around the same money so its just a matter of hunting out a bargin..

Cheers Ken

Hi there and welcome to the forum! Out of The three tanks you mention only the Sherman is made as an Rc kit or ready to run model as far as I know the other two are scratch build tanks! The Shermans models available are the tamiya 105 Sherman and then the Mato plus heng long are bringing out a Sherman soon as well the best one for the price is the Mato Sherman at £100 it's well worth the money and is a great little tank to start with ! Hope that helps you regards Gary.

Thx for the replies all!

I'm getting fond of the H/L StuG, the more I look at it the more I like it.
It start to look like it, the StuG will be my first RC tank.
To get "in the mood" I ordered this book: Sturmgeschütze - "Die Panzer der Infanterie"

Cheers,
FD
