Heng Long IR compatibility.

Post by ausf »

I just ordered a HL Stug with IR. I know it's a reach, but is there any chance of it working or reacting to the Tamiya systems?

I have 2 Tamiyas and 2 sons. That leaves one of us out. I just wanted to see what these HLs are all about and don't mind upgrading parts and plan a ton of detail work (schurzen, waffle zim, etc, I haven't checked references yet) but it would be cool if they were compatible or there was an upgrade or programming patch.

Am I in luck?

Yes it can be done, there is a unit called the Mako unit developed by RCtanksaustralia that goes between the IR unit and the RX18 that makes it compatible with the Tamiya system, there's information in the electronics section.

I suggest buying from above link rather than ebay that way the guy gets more of the money rather than ebay as he's a great guy and bringing out a lot of great products and we should help support him.

Cheers guys,

Just ordered one straight from Oz.

Now I'm stoked, for roughly $160 and some work I'll be battling it out with the Tamiyas...

I may end up with a whole lot of HLs in the future at that rate. :D
