This is my first Attempt to modify a remote control tank. I used one Heng Long Tiger 1, but I'm not satisfied with the Heng Long electronics. What would be the best option: Electronics from Tamiya or El-Mod? Can anyone tell me if it is too difficult to install these options?

Please do not take this the wrond way......Tiger crews/ most tank crews as a rule would not cover their air intakes for the cooing system.

no.....found it on photo bucket, i just want to show were the cooling system was. The tiger was prown to over heating....a there are many photos out there with them driving around with the armored grates wedged open.

The objects on the grates are just for display on a shelf. They are not glued on the grates. I run the tank without this objects.

For your first attempt I think it looks great, as for your items on the back whilst it may or may not be correct if you like the look thats all that matters mate.

The member asked a question about the electronics, so let's see if we can actually help him find the answer to his question.

The electronics you require would be determined by what your intended use of the tank requires? Are you wanting to battle with other I/R Tanks based on the Tamiya system?

Or are you interest in more advance control functions? EL=MOD is a very advanced system and perhaps some links on the el-mod would help you develop a better understanding of that system.

I will note their are new devices becoming available to allow Heng Long RX18 systems to Battle with Tamiya systems if Battle is the goal.

From what i have heard, Benedini systems are the best, EL-Mod a very close second, and the best of the rest is tamiya, but all can be very pricey to buy. You would be best advised to look these up and compare what best suits your needs and budget. Hope that helps you a little bit

The tamiya electrics are very good and reliable! Good sounds and when mated with the tamiya battle system even beter! To convert to tamiya your looking at £120 for the DMD unit then you will need the multifunction unit £89.00 then all the wires about 20.00 plus a good handset£49.99 your looking at least £280 to convert. There the SLU system they are around £160 and you will need a handset total around £210 and it comes with a full battle system . The elmod is allso a great system but it depends how far you want to go with it hope that helps Gary.
