Hello everyone! Ken from USA

Post by tigertracks »

Hi everyone! Would love to jump into the tank hobby world...I mostly have had RC monster trucks and scale trail trucks. I'm still deciding on whether to get a Heng Long Tiger 1 or a Taigen Tiger 1 tank. :D

Hi Ken, I don't know much about those HL's myself but the Taigen's have certainly caught my eye - was having a good look at one on here that one of the guys has and don't they look good.

Ed (from England)
Tamiya King Tiger (no options)
Taigen Full Metal T34 (winter)
Heng Long Challenger II (European camo')
Tamiya Tiger I full options (still in the box)

Hi Ken,

Welcome to the forum

Heng Long or Taigen? If you didn't know the Taigen is basically a Heng Long with upgrades and custom paint job.

Which would I go for, well I have two HL Tigers and on both I've spent a fair bit on upgrading them. But I've enjoyed the journey getting them upgraded I've found it rewarding and learnt a lot (didn't have any modelling skills before). So depends at what you want? a good upgraded tank from the go (Taigan) or just something to play with now but want to tinker and explore/learn in the process (Heng Long).

Hope that helps.

Ian.

Hi everyone thanks for the warm welcome! I am mod crazy and on my trucks I spent a lot of time modding and adding stuff, cutting aluminium etc...and it ended up costing a lot. I think if I get the Heng Long it might end up costing me more in the long run. I do like the plain look on the HL's though...seems easier to paint over, on the Taigen the zimmerits are they rubber?

Welcome Tigertracks  The Taigen tanks will have the rubber zimmerit , as has been noted , they are HL with aftermarket upgrade parts . ( Doing it by hand would be too slow - exspensive ;) )
to the bouncy room ! Yay !

Are the zimmerit rubber parts added to the Taigen same as the ones you can buy separately to add to Heng Long tanks(was wondering if they are easily removable)? Also did anyone experience problems with their metal gears in their Taigens?
I saw some video reviews on youtube that the Taigen Tiger has an earlier version(shiny paint) and a later version with Matte paintjob...
