My Tiger 1 No.133
Hi,
Here are some pictures of my Heng Long 1/16 Tiger 1. It was a full metal option kit that was originally in German Grey. I decided to strip it down and re-paint it in 1944, Normandy colours, with a few little extras of my own!. I have built static models before but this is my first attempt at a 1/16th scale RC model. I want to add some more details to this model and would welcome any suggestions or improvements that I could make.
My next project will probably be a Tamiya 1/16th Sherman. I am tempted to try and re-create Oddballs M4 from Kelleys Hero's as it is one of my favorite war films and that tank is very cool indeed. I have noticed some people have already made models of this particular tank and am very impressed with their efforts. So this has given me the incentive to have a go at this one myself.
Dont forget to add your comments on my Tiger!.

Very nice!
I like the weathering on the running gear, how did you achieve that?

Nice work.

Hi many thanks for your comments. Its nice to have compliments from experienced modellers who know what they are doing as I am sure you all are. Hi Steve, the weathering of the running gear was done with MIG pigments. I have never used these before and found them very effective and easy to work with. For the thicker mud I mixed the pigments with PVA glue and 'slapped' it on and wiped off accordingly. Most of it though was done with pigment washes and the fixer agent that you can buy with them. I used mostly european earths for the mud, but I also bought soot for the engine covers, grills and gun muzzle break and rust for subtlte areas. I wanted to make my own cammo net to drape on the turret and also to have wrapped up. This was done with a dish cloth which I stretched, painted and weathered accordingly. I was quite pleased with the results.
The coils of wire I made with stainless screw wirelock that I got from work, which I coiled up and superglued together and then painted.
I want to do something more with the MG42 machine gun on the turret. I would like to add an ammo box at the side showing the belt fed rounds going into the gun. Does anyone know where I can maybe get such parts from?.
