Mattorro King Tiger and HL Tiger problems

Post by Dug »

I have a Mattorro King tiger that I've been running for about a year. However the gun elevation and bb firing now refuse to operate. I suspect that it is either a loose connection or a snagged wire as turret trraverse and other functions are all OK. How difficult is it to remove the tracks and split the hulls? I suspect the internals are like HL non RX 18 electronics? I have a pantiger (yes, I know) that I keep for the kids to drive and shoot that could provide spares if they are the same. Can anybody help?

I also have a HL tiger that I've replaced the gearboxes on (new metal ones) and it keeps shedding the tracks off the rear idler wheels. I've tried changing track lengths etc but no use. I think it is because the idler wheels are twisitng slightly though they can't be tightened anymore. Has anyone come across this one and, if so, how did they fix it?

Many thanks

hello mate my tiger had a 14 board in it and just packed up after a week, the tracks will come apart you just have to have a small screwdriver to push the links out i pushed mine downwards found this best way for me then its 6 screws on the underside of hull should then come apart turret wire will unplug from board as for idler wheels all i can think is that hull out of shape?,do you have the strips down sides of hull?these generaly will pull the hull straight hope this helps
fetch me the kitty's lets go to war

Thanks. I'll strip down the KT - sounds like the same set up as the HL Tiger re screws etc. The tiger just has the standard hull. I can't recall if there are metal strips down it. I've got to strip it down to replace the smoke unit that's never worked properly. I'll check then.

Dug,
Easiest way I found for taking the track pins out is to remove one at the drive sprocket, as Ruben says push them inwards. Once you have the tracks removed there are six screws in the sponsons then it comes apart ok, although Matorro aren't overgenerous with the amount of slack in the cabling to the upper hull:

You will need to get the soldering iron out to take the turret off as the wires are soldered to the upper hull socket:

As for the Tiger I idler problem, yep, suffered that, figured it was down to the wobbly idlers so sorted mine by fitting a set of Tank Modellbau track tension adjusters and metal idler wheels from Steve at Welshdragon, this really stiffened the rear of the hull:

Good luck with whatever you do, hope you get both tanks sorted.
