Alternative to Promax 400s?

Post by TankOCD »

Hello,
What standard motors can be used in the heng longs? I'm wanting to use something a bit higher quality than the promax's. I can't seem to find a size or wind limit on the default ESC

Hi TankOCD,

with the HL electronics your most likely only be able to go upto 480 size motors. In one of my tanks I have Graupner 400 speed 6v (rated 4A) which are good really high revs but not much low down torque. Another I have Jamara 480 LiPo pro (rated 5A) which has loads of low speed torque making slowing manouvers on grass excellent.

Not certain if these are available in your area. But if you look the data sheets up on line should help you with number of turns etc.

Ian.

Also forgot to ask are the motors for the standard gearbox or a low ratio gearbox?

Just that changing to low ratio will dramtically change how the tank performs. Where as changing a motor in the standard gearbox may have a lesser effect.

Honestly Tankbear, it won't be here until tomorrow and I'm already obsessing lol. It's just that the usual promax upgrade motors seem pretty cheap and I'd like to put a nicer brushed motor in them. I'm still on the lookout for a 3:1 gearbox for the kv1. The only ones i've seen are the standard metal ones.
