I am in the UK, I have seen them at model shows here for around £60-£80
I sometimes pick up 1/16 RC Tamiya Kubelwagens at these to build and sell on.

I know some Hooben and Tamiya static kits have mountings for gearboxes etc but do the trumpeters?

No, its not really a practical proposition - the kit including suspension is all plastic.

The trumpeter kit is used by Torro as the basis for their T 34so the answer must be yes its possible. However if you get the Torro tank you then have a working tank you can strip and modify if you want to as a basis they are great models. i have their Tiger 1 . But they are otherwise quite similar to Heng Long inside the Tiger 1 is far more accurate than Heng longs and is on a par with Tamiya in accuracy. I for one am on the lookout for a Torro one but id still love a crack at the basic kit
