Transmitter for Mato Sherman & Tamiya tanks ?

Post by TankLover »

Hi guys,

I was offer a brand new Mato Sherman but it comes with no transmitter, battery, and charger. I like the Sherman a lot and since I can't afford the one from Tamiya now, this Sherman from Mato should do the job. Question for you guys, can I use the same Transmitter from my HL KV1 to control this Sherman ? What do I need to change for it to work ?
The second option is to buy a new transmtter ( I also need to buy a second and good battery). What would be a decent Transmitter that will work with both the Mato Sherman, and Tamiya tanks ( which I will buy in future when fund is available) ? If you could provide links that would be very much appreciated. I tend to lean towards the second option that is to buy new Transmitter.

Hi Tanklover,

I think the mato electronics are unique to them so won't work with your HL transmitter. So think buying another transmitter is easiest option.

Another option is to change the electronics to HL ones as these are quite cheap (compared to Tamiya, Elmod, SLU) but will require a small amount of rewiring internally to get it to work.

Don't know about the battery.

Thank you Tankbear for the advise. The thing is I would like to keep the original electronics because the sound effect is better than HL electronics. I also think buying new transmitter is a better way but I would like to get one that will also work with Tamiya tanks. Also I assume the battery is the same as the HL ones ?

Don't think you get a transmitter which will work the mato and tamiya.

Looking on another website the battery looks same as the HL ones so should be ok using your HL one.

I have tried my HL controller with my Mato Sherman and it does not work.
I am buying a cheap HL tank to swap the elecs into my Sherman as the 4 stage speed control irritates me no end.
Hopefully the Mato speaker can stay in.
