after looking at pics of the bovingdon king tiger, i came up with the idea of using stretched sprue for the weld runs as they look to be three seperate beads and not a wide capping run as on some other tanks. will ordinary liquid poly attach them to the heng long plastic, or am i better off using super glue to tack them in place then soften them?

Plastic sprue is an excellent way to do welds , attached and softened with more liquid polystyrene glue working the beads and ripples as you see fit .
*Tip - I 'painted' the adjacent areas with thin superglue , scratching through to clean plastic before applying , this stops the solvent affectng the surrounding plastic

I used a different approach=
http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/v ... =22&t=6128 Evergreen 1/4 round and 1/2 round strips.Glued in place and cut using a hobby knife. Once painted the lines appear very clearly and as a continuous bead. The Link Has many more pictures, but here are a few.
This method was not mine originally yet I cannot recall the source.

A super simple way is one of these
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wt ... LXGGG7&P=K" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and squadron green (or white) putty. It is reuseable and can be used to do multiple tanks..
in the raw...
Some painted...
You simply fill it with a spot of putty and shoot it ..once dry scratch with a hobby knife. It's very accurate in tight spots

cheers for that jay, think i'm going to use a combination of both ideas, dont really need to do the big welds on the armour as it's getting zimmerit( not that i'm looking forward to that) but the top of the hull and the turret will need detailing.

What are you going to use for the Zimm?
milliput or epoxy sculpt?

thinking of the tile grout method and a small gear mounted in a handle. like the look of the soldering iron one, but my iron only has a pointed tip, not a flat bladed one

the iron method is real neat if a bit pongy lol
epoxy sculpt is sposed to be cleaner than milliput
not seen a tile grout one up close and personal but i guess it should work?
