Question on Texturing of Armour

Post by Mackem »

Hi All,

I'm currently working on my PzIV Austf F1.
As such I've been cruising the forums for idea's, detailing tips, and inspiration.

I found a build over on panzerketten where the lad has textured the combat section of the
upper hull and all of the turret on his PzIV. ( Not zimmerit, just surface texturing. )

I know that cast armour does have a texture, but German WWII tanks had rolled homogeneous armour
plate, which in the pics I've got appears to have a smooth finish.

So, should German armour be textured, or is it overkill?

Cheers in advance
John

for me it depends on the tank, if its German then i do a light overall texture and on the cast components of the vehicle a heavy texture, German not so heavy but Russian very heavy, but its very easy to overdo it.

Thanks for the quick reply Oz.
I doubt that my local hobby shop stocks Mr Surfacer.
I'll have a look on Ebay.
