The following parts are included to depict a Tiger I as it was deployed to the North African desert: Mantlet, Air Cleaners, Hatch Underside, Commander Figure and Decals.
Includes DMD Control Unit and DMD Multi-Function Unit to enable realistic tank movement.
Pre-assembled gearboxes with type 380 motors provide ample power to maneuver the tank.

Xrad, A valid point,I am hoping the new metal products coming to market will influence their view. They are no longer dealing with a market that has nothing better to offer, remove their electronics and what is left?

Certainly My now older Asiatam Tiger hull has demonstrated durability, many many hours of use and not a single problem in over two years. This offering seems to fall short of any progress,a few new parts and nothing more.

Metal tracks, sprockets, gun, and accessories should be standard, perhaps they will soon realize this? We shall see....

You got to take into account that I am sure tanks are not just flying off the shelves for them. Hense the fact they have not issued anything "new". Having an outside market producing metal parts may just be the reason for Tam not adding these in on kits. It is cheaper to let someone else pay for the tooling, and production costs. I am sure over the vast years Tam's tooling is for the most part covered for the kit itself.

i'm into N scale trains also and i think tamiya and kato share
the same mind set, We make it this way take it or leave it...
example: N scale loco that is right for road A kato will paint
for road B and c even though the details are all wrong.
take it or leave it. Tamiya is the same way the 1977 sherman
sold a million copies now lets change the turret and sell a
million more. All on the same old worn out mold...

I don't think that this Tamiya Tiger1 is worth the extra money.I already have a Tamiya Tiger 1 from 501 sPzAbt "724" Afrika Corps. It has been done in the DAK Lifecolor colours, and the tank has a load of extra metal, including grilles, metal barrel and muzzle break, impact tracks, gearbox bracing, premium idler wheel system, schumo operating drivers/radio operators hatches, schumo metal tow rope set, shumo metal cable clamp set, schumo Bosch metal headlights, schmo metal hatch handle set. I am running my 3 Tamiya Tanks off a Turnigy 9X and they do run quite well, with no interference from someone else in the club using a Futaba Attack 4TVWD controller.

I think that Tamiya should do something new like a Challenger 2, M1A2 Abrams, T90 MBT, or even the Chieftain MBT in the 1/16 R.C.

What about an R.C operational I.R Flak 88. That would make it interesting for the tank boy's on a battle day.

These are some my ideas.

What do you fellow members think?
