Leopard2A6 - going to buy one, but have questions...
So, I'll be buying a 1/16th Leopard 2A6 full option kit in the very near future. I'm also planning on getting the stab system and the new metal tracks to at least make it somewhat accurate.
Later I'll be looking at putting on a Barracuda kit and possibly scratch building some slat armour to replicate my old tank from tour....but that's wayyyy down the road.
Is there anything I should be aware of or are there any mods that are required to ensure that it will be a smooth runner and not break down on a regular basis?
I'm trying to educate myself prior to making the buy. I just found out that they don't come with the remote control, so which one is the best one for the job?
Thoughts?

A great rc transmitter is the dx8, especially if you are going to have a lot of channels and don't plan on buying an f16.

I have a Airtronics RDS 8000 FHSS 8 channel, allows you to program up to 10 tanks,it has ,2.4GHz frequency, this will allow you to use all the features. and the Futaba radios are good, buy one that is 2.4 or 7.2 GHz, with no antenna to worry about.

Okay, the deed is now done.
The kit has been purchased and I'm waiting on delivery. I'm still researching transmitters right now.
Now to ask you all again, if you had the cash....what mods would you like to see on a 1/16 scale Tamiya Leopard2A6?
I am now looking for upgrades and will be looking to your input.
That being said, I'll be posting regular updates as the build progresses. Mind you, I'm in the middle of building 3 other 1/35 scale tank projects as well.
Any thoughts?

Is the Gepard still in service or was it rendered obsolete when the Leopard A2 came out. Thought it may be possible to have a detachable hull top with the anti aircraft guns if the chassis is the same.

Well, it showed up last night.
IT"S ONE BIG HONKING KIT!!!
I served on the thing and trained in Munster and it's pretty accurate right out of the box.
One thing though.....no MG3? I spend that cash on a kit and it doesn't come with an MG3 for the loader's hole?
Anyways, track, stab system and remote is coming in as well.
As for the Geppard...they are still around. Wheather or not they are being used by the Bundeswher I have no idea.

Any of those in readily supply in North America? The costs from across the pond are outrageous with the exchange rate.bigford wrote:i thought i read somewhere that there are hull stiffeners
