Opinions needed!
My first attempt at airbrushing enamel! (Testors to be precise).
It was supposed to be a Tunisian camo'd Panzer IIIN from sPz Abt 501. My question is are the colours right, or do they look too washed out?
There doesn't seem to be enough contrast between the 2 colours to my eye at least... I'm wondering if I shouldn't redo the "stripes" in a different shade?
Also does anybody know of a source of suitable "red on white" numerals? I have the Elite Armour decal set to do my tiger with, but that doesn't have anything suitable for the Panzer III - I've checked with Peddinghaus but they don't have anything either. Would a set of 1:35 tiger decals be the right size?
Thanks
Mart

Re: Opinions needed!
You could try just going over the stripes again to darken the colour.

Re: Opinions needed!
nope, its just "as painted" - I'll add the varnish after I find some decals and I'm happy with the colours.
Still thats worth thinking about - I also checked out Tiger205's 131 Tiger build, and there's not a great deal of contrast between the 2 shades.
Thanks for your thoughts 8)

@ keith
Yeah you maybe right - I'm afraid of screwing it up tho
I'll see how it looks in the daylight tomorrow, a 2nd coat is a definite option - maybe with a thicker mix?

Re: Opinions needed!
hi mart
i think it looks spot on, i see you checked out the "131" tiger i done, youre right there isnt much contrast between the colours, the reason for this is the real "131" is just like that, when i was looking at my photos of "131" to get the camo' the same, it was a real nightmare seeing where one colour started and the other finnished, so i would say its fine as it is. as for the decals why dont you make youre own, you can get decal paper from most pc shops, failing that, i have some here, youre welcome to some if you want?

Re: Opinions needed!
Hi Tony,
I'm leaning toward cracking out the masking tape and having another coat - maybe the harder edge will give a better contrast, altho I do prefer the non masked "hasty field sprayed" look...?
As for home made decals - how do they work out? I've seem many people complain that Creeping Death's decals suck, and need a white background in order to stand out?
Thanks,
Mart

Re: Opinions needed!
Be brave and paint your numbers on, you can always practice on a bit of plastic first

Re: Opinions needed!
Hi Mart,
It's really hard to give opinions on someone elses work, especially cammo.
Personally I would wait until you get the numbering/decals sorted, then see what effect a pin wash and some weathering has.
Given the conditions that these vehicles operated in and the amount of dust and debris they throw up
it's amazing any cammo patterns are visible at all.
Cheers
John
