first tank is a lemon cant wait for the second

Post by dotu2 »

well well
first off i've been haunting this site for the last couple of weeks and all the info you folk have here is fantasic. my best bud tried to get me into rc helecopters, but living on the plains of Alberta Canada didnt see the weather working in my favor. Then one night while playing WOT (world of Tanks ) it hit me "what i need is a tank " and a tank is what i got. first get is a HL tiger 1 couldnt wait to get it as soon as i ordered it i was cruising these very pages checking out what those who came befor me had experinced. I soon came to realize that my $200 tank was really just the begining to many hours not with contoller in hand but rather hunched over a table making repairs and mods. So far I've put a fan on my circuit board moved all the switches to the engin bay c/w working hinge (nerver knew you could cut plasic with string) and reconected several loose wires. however now after only a couple of hours of operation i find i have a faulty metal gear box prone to jamming up. While completely not surprised i am some what bummed that now i must wait for replacment parts

My metal gear box jammed too on my Panzer III. Decided to go to steel and upgrade tracks and suspension (still waiting two screws) while at it. Dave forgebear was very quick at sending out the parts next day and I received last Saturday, so far no problems.

Ps. Helicopters are more fun though but can cost more when something fails!

Tell me about it !!!
You have to be pretty clever to make a tank plummet from a great height , but helicopters...... :haha:

Welcome dotu2, Many have experienced this same situation. Since you live in Canada their are vendors in the USA. Most vendors are listed here in two sections.

welcome dotu2, nice to see another Canuck on here. We are pretty lucky to have matomart.com and vivahobby.com here in Canada as well. I wouldn't say anything about either but i recently bought stuff from both of them and they are easy to deal with.
never know if you need anything send me a pm I may have a spare widget or two for you.
this hobby does seem to need a lot of parts lol

sorry Saxondog without mailing them we wouldn't know. I actually went to the address listed on the website for Matomart thinking I might be able to walk in and buy parts, what a laugh lol.
Matmart's address is the Canada Post station. Matomart works out of a garage or a basement for all I know. Made me feel uneasy as I hate dealing with pure on-line companies.

Hi dotu2,
Welcome to the Forum  As you have seen they are a friendly bunch on here. There is a search box located in the top right hand corner of the main banner, and if you have any other questions then please just post them and someone will soon come along who can answer them or point you in the right direction. The big advantage with tanks over helicopters..is that they do not tend to fall out of the sky.......... :haha: unless something has gone seriously wrong !!!
