Duel At Dessau Super Pershing vs King Tiger

Post by FireflyKeith »

This is a good battle story about two giants of WWII, i wonder if the outcome would have been different if the KT had a better crew ???

this is one thing i like about this forum, you learn something new almost everytime youre on line, i didnt know there were so few super pershings made, and only one in europe in ww2, as matt said, a great piece of history,

I thought they were more common aswell. Like Tony said, you learn something everyday. Thanks for sharing.

PS: Can you imagine what it was like trying to operate either one of those beasts in a built up area, nightmare!!!!!

The Tiger was KO'd by a shot to the underside, so it makes you wonder if they would have penetrated the tigers armour if it had been on the front glacis or the turret.

The first shot did ricochet off the Royal Monster if memory serves.

I would seriously doubt that they would have fired a HE round at a Tiger II for fear that the Tigers own round could have penetrated, 1 chance per round get it wrong and you may never live to have another go

but they may have allready loaded the round into the break and decided rather than swap the round to just fire it instead ... then load and fire the AP ???

cheers,
