HL Pershing IDF

My wife have offer me a Pershing. I love the Leopard 1 or 2. As i've been gunner on a Leo 1A5, i prefer the Leo 1. So as she want to make me a gift we has look for a Leopard tank. As she know nothing about tanks, she has been into a shop, as the HL Pershing have on the box: "Snow Leopard" for her it have to be a Leopard as it's a tank with tracks, a turret and a gun lol.

When i have received it, i was thinking what can i do with it? After some search on internet i've found a picture from a custom version of an HL Pershing as an IDF tank. Unfortunatly the Pershing have never been in used in the IDF. Also as i have order a T-34/85 an IDF tank can be perfect so that's why i have decided to create a "What If" version of the Pershing with an other gun and some ad-in armor.

As i'am living in a desertic area that can match with the Golan or Sinaï area, the best choice is full metal tracks with some rust I think it's due to the flash light but they look like more rusty than they are.

The first "big" job for me is to remove the antena from the rear side to the turret. As its the first time for me i have open it and try to found the way to place it on the turret. A big surprise when i have open it. Some scews where missong on the engines as you can see it on the pictures. I have also removed the lights as i want to placed them on an other side and put modified Tamiya lights with the light inside:

I ahve also remove the front parts upon the tracks and the .30 caliber with the led:

I have finish to make the add on armor on the turret and the front hull. When i have open it, i have modify the turret rotation system to allow it to make a complete turn. Also modified the gun lower position. After that the first coat:

On the rear I have put the number plate for the tank that I still have to paint and the code sign on the turret.


On the front, I have added son tracks and the other number plate. I have paint the gun muzzle in black like the originals IDF tanks:



I start to work on the turret side coffer and added some Tamiya ammo boxes and tools:

I have finally finished the main part of the custom of my R/C tank. Here are some pictures of my first test. I still have to weather it a little more:

Most excellent Job, the last outside photos are really good. Seems you have done a fine job,I have never really liked this tank as it seemed weak,under armored and very vonerable,your mods make for an excellent view of what is possible.

Brilliant,

The look is very much that of a battle worn veteran, the details are unique and the tone and shadowing effect seem really life like.

Never really thought much of the Pershing, seemed weak in appearance. You have certainly changed that.
