new on here

hey all, im new on here so to introduce myself, im stephen, but call me stevie or hendo,

i have a 1:16 scale tiger tank by heng long, metal tracks gear boxes and drive wheels,

i have a few issues with it but i hope that i can get all the help i need on here

but anyway, im scottish so sometimes i dont write things very well so ill try my best to talk proper english init ?

so is it better to start a project thread off or just look straight into specific threads about my tanks problems ?

look forward to replies, hope im not the only sad person sitting on on the net and playing with a tank on a saturday night !

thanks guys, well basically one of the pins keep coming loose in my metal tracks, the tanks 2 days old ! and its annoying me secondly, the battery lasts about 20 minutes if im lucky thats with 4 hours charging from DEAD and lastly it plls to one side so ive had to set the trim off to one side

Yo , Stevie , welcome to the dark side pins work their way out , it's normal . Do what most of us do and apply some locktite or even varnish to the knurled end and tap it back in , that should do it . ( I go through every one except for one which i mark with a small dab of paint , that way i can split it if i need to )

• Ahhh , original chinese batteries , not worth the spit , the HL ones supplied are just about OK for the basic lightweight plastic versions ( 1700ma) add metal tracks 'n stuff and the poor things are hauling twice the weight or more , battery life suffers .

- Trimming is not unusual either , all mine do it , it's not the tank i've found but the cheapo TX's .

Welcome Stevie, From your description you seem to have some problems, did you buy the tank already set up with the metal drive and tracks?

Perhaps the time has come to disassemble the tank,and re-build it properly with some forum guidance? Also a good way to start your own build thread and benefit from pictures and information as you assemble the Tiger with our help.

It would certainly save you from repeating mistakes or incorrect adjustments which has been covered here in detail,with your own thread we can answer giving links and direction to information contained here.

Just a suggestion,and certainly members will assist you whatever path you decide to use, A properly assembled Tiger is a fine tank,generally a good runner to be enjoyed.

Hello Stevie,
Welcome to the Forum. The Tiger 1 is a great place to start. It has the largest internal space of any of the Heng Long tanks and so is the easiest one to work on and to add things to. There are a vaste range of add ons and replacement parts that you can get.If you haven't already done it is is probably worth splitting the top from the hull base / chassis so that you can get familiar with the layout. Just be careful NOT to pull any wires off that are not just plugged into the transmitter etc. If you unplug any connections just make sure that you know where they come from.....and /or take plenty of digital photos.
It is worth leaving out the screws that go above the tracks as they are a complete pain to get at and are really not needed.
I am sure that there is a 'How to do it ' article...I just cannot find it at the moment...but I will keep searching..

thanks very much, i was gonna do some browsing on here last nyt but unfortunately i was pissed haha good times, ive already stripped the full tank as its got to a stage its pissing me off, the gearboxes have eaten themselves, basically all the teeth are flat ! and i have problems with the crystals aswell, then the problem with the tracks coming off, it just got to a point where i wanted to step on it, so im savingup gonna buy the asiatam hull etc and metal idlers etc get it all sorted properly

Asiatam Hull........The Best money can buy......simple as that, make sure that you get the 3-1 reduction Metal gearboxes as well ....your Tiger wil run fine after that Have a look at Steve at Welsh Dragon Models....link...

On the Track-Pins....Personally I prefer to use evo stik on each of the metal track pins. Just place a small blob on the end of each pin once you have made sure that they are all correctly inserted, by laying the track on a flat surface and looking for any sticking up or down 'Proud' of their proper position. At first the Evo-stik will sit up as a bit of a lump but it contracts as it dries and is virtually invisible...( I also us Evo-stik on blts on my Motorcycles...I just use more of it it works better than any thread-lock or Ny-lok nuts and you can always undo it again with a spanner.....and you can paint it so it is great for the 'Rat-Bike' ).
