My First Tiger and finally finished

Post by FreakyDude »

I have edited the first page to make this easier. Metal drive wheels and idlers (tracks are going to have to wait for santa to come lol) , steel gearbox with a 3 to 1 ratio, 400 motors, circuit board fan, 5amp fuses between the RX18 and motors. Moved the switches to the back of the tank. I added lengths of sheet styrene over the the inside wall and then siliconed it to make it damp proof and and to stop the dust from going inside. I made my own idler system at the back to correct its position. Moved antennae to a closer position, still not exact correct but it is a bit better where it is on the left. I built the screen grills for the engine deck and carved a pair of binoculars out of sheet for the commander as well. Opened the drivers hatch. One thing you can not see is the aluminum tube frame i built on the inside to stiffen the tank up. and I built removable gear covers out of thin sheet as well. All the wiring is quick disconnects so I can replace or repair anything and I bumped the battery to a 3300 nimh, get about an hour and a bit from a charge.
Learned a lot on this build so now I can really build a sweet machine from scratch out of aluminum.
I like the work I did and will upgrade this one to an IR system so I can go bash it about.

Hi,FreakyDude, :~
Nice paint job but, If you are going to repaint it then just as suggestions I would remove the LED in the main cannon mantle, and fill in the hole, you could also look at opening up the drivers vision slit in the hull front. Both are easy mofifications that help the Tiger look that little bit better.
This section of the forum lists some other things to change......some easy and some harder.... :D

well for an update here I have added a fan and put 3 amp blade fuses on the motor wiring. I took all the switches off the bottom and moved them to various less than obvious spots on the back of the tank.
I changed my rear idlers so they sit between the teeth of the track, gotta love the local hardware store carrying metric nuts and bolts.
Have the brass 3 to 1 gears on order and some speed 400 motors. hopefully in soon.
once i get that done it will be saving for metal drive wheels and tracks with suspension arms.
Once I get that done then it will be off to the smaller exterior cosmetic changes.
Maybe one day this Tiger will be finished lol. :haha:
