Hi all
Over a period of time am going to be scratch building a Sd.kfz 7..
Now i know the over all dimensions like length, width, height..but its the bits in between am having trubble finding..
Things like front wheel size, wheel arch, track size and distance between front wheel to start of track.
All that sort of stuff. if anyone would have any information on this it would be of great help..
It doesn't matter what scale you give the dimensions as long as you say what scale its in, i can then resize it.
Thanks Caddy

Re: Help Plz with some dimensions
As i have said in another post ..have got to build the tamyia 1st but..
Have been busy drawing up some plans, (some modeling license may have to come in on some of the dimensions
)
The motors are going to be 55 turn and have sorted out the esc as well..
Then a cardboard chassis and then finally the metal chassis.
so am going to be having my hands full for a while ..

One of the things that has worked out well for me is to buy a 1/35th kit, and take the parts that you want to scale up to a business that has a photocopier. I lay the 1/35th part on the glass copier plate, (and it helps to put a plain sheet of paper over the part, if you can; as it will help prevent the 'blank' areas surrounding the part from coming out as black). I start by enlarging it by 213% to end up with a copy in 1/16th scale, (but I have also read that people enlarge it by 218% for 1/16th). Because of that difference, I start with 213% and go up from there. What usually helps me to determine the final size is that I'll take an overall length of the real vehicle (from Wikipedia or somewhere), and multiply that by 0.0625, which is the decimal equivalent to 1/16. That gives me a 1/16 length that I can compare to a measurement of the enlarged photocopy; to see if I'm close enough.
I have tried enlarging the 3-view drawings in kit instruction sheets, (the ones used for decal placement or painting guides), but have found that the differnet views do not always end up being the same width or height.
I have also had good luck with George Bradford's AFV drawings books (I believe he has about six of them out, now).
