One track turns quicker

Post by Tankbear »

Hi guys,

My tank pulls to one side as one track rotates quicker than the other. And using the trim adjust on the controller doesn't counteract it.

Any idea why?

This is with standard plastic gearbox, i've check and both side rotate freely etc.

Mine also pulls quicker on one side. I have an elmod fitted and according to the elmod instructions this is as it should be. Drives fine though. Maybe my brain is making the corrections necessary to drive straight.

This isn't normal, it can proably do a full circle with 10m diameter when suppose to be straight. :(

I think one of the motors is knackered as when coming up hill and turning (with faster track) it just turns, if I try other way so using slower track I noticeabley slows as if can't cope with the load.

Can you swap motors over to see if that is the cause?

Hi It could also be the the gearbox final drive,Plastic ones have a tendancy to start slipping on the drive shaft. You may need to upgrade to metal ones.

Hi, :~
+1 from me for a knackered plastic gear. Test it and see. Remove the hull top and start the slower motor turning, then start to grip the track to slow it down and see if one part of the gearbox is moving faster than the next part and you have found your slipping gear on its shaft.
Then two options,
1. Buy the best 3-1 METAL reduction gears that you can afford,or.....
2. Take the gearbox out dismantle it and with a small dril, make a hole through the hub of the gear and the shaft on which it mounts. Then glue a metal pin in to resecure the gear to its shaft. But in all honesty the plastic boxes are too fast for scale, they do not allow any real pulling power to get the tank up and over obstacles and they are easily broken.

Thanks for the replys.

Could be the drive shaft slipping as a few weeks back one of the gearboxes was squeaking a lot so i went over board with the oil.

I ordered heng long metal gearbox at weekend so hopefully that will fix the issue.
