Post by LUIS22 »

Hello Guys,

This is my HL Tiger I no modification done so far just a quick airbrush job...Planning to replace the tracks fpr metal ones and possibly the gun barrel for the correct size...This toys are a super bargain if you compare them to the Tamiya tanks...

Oh, how many times do we read the words "I think I might replace . . ."! It's often the beginning of a long journey my friend! By the way that's an impressive paint job - did you start with a darker base colour and then graduate to lighter - or spray on the lowlights afterward? Tim

Hi LUIS22,
You are right about the price of the tanks compared to Tamiya...and you still have to assemble those as they come as a complete kit that has to be assembled from scratch! :O
The barrel extension is a 'Must-Do' for the Tiger it looks so much better with the correct length barrel. If you are going to do metal tracks then really you need Metal Sprockets,Metal Track Tensioners and Metal Gearboxes. The 3-1 reduction boxes are the best; but if funds are a bit short and you can do a bit of 'Modification' then a cheap way to convert the standard Heng Long metal gearbox to a 3-1 reduction is here in this link

Nice camo paint on the Tiger very much like 1 version of the Kursk scheme in the 'Reference Camo Paterns' section for the Tiger 1

Very simple: I first painted the model in Dark sand color (Tamiya) the camo is dark green and then I gave it a coat of airbrush wash with very diluted black .. scratches are made with pencil...

Dietrich thanks for the info...sometimes I wonder that it would be better to buy the all metal version since spare parts alone would end up beign more expensive!!

Hi LUI22,
The Asiatam lower hull is very highly recommended by members and all reports on them are excellent. I just wish that I had one LOL............. Welsh Dragon Models has them on offer or about £56 I think at the moment so that may be a good place to start.

Oops its actually £59.74....and here is the link....BUT you still need the sprockets, tracks and gearboxes so more money!!...... but it will then last you indefinately, just ask someone with one like 'Saxondog' his has hundreds of hours of use and NO Problems
