1/6 british airborne jeep

hi all i decided to bite the bullet and go bigger i got myself a 21st century jeep of ebay
hopefully this is going to be rc i have seen some axles from a tamiya rock rawler and a two speed transmission i will probably scratch some leaf springs that wiil hopefully work
so far i have re mounted the spare wheel to the front bumper ,removed the fuel can and rear bumpers also cut down the front bumper and added a pipe to the exhaust so it will smoke and replaced the steering colum with a boat prop shaft as i am hopefully going to connect it to the steering.
i have already scratch built a front tow bracket an rear a frame next is to make some battery holders for the front fenders.
this is going to be a long build as the parts i want arent cheap and i have a holiday coming up so please bear with me.
under the bonnet is a hl battery 2ch reciver speed controler 2 aaa baterys for thelights which now work and a hl smoker

thanks for the comment i now realize why people go to great lengths to get it right because if you miss the smallest thing off it looks odd

hi all just a quick update on the jeep
i have added the rack on the bonnet and added straps with working buckles
the rack is made from lengths of plastic angle with brass rod tie downs the straps are made from part of an old canvass bag cut into strips the buckles are brass rod bent and soldered
it was my first time soldering brass i think i did ok

great job with the straps , those buckles realy look the part , well done on the soldering , my first effort was a right dogs dinner, helped when i found out theres flux for brass ,

the solder i used was already coated with flux i think anything bigger wouldnt have worked just hope they dont fall apart

I like what you've done so far, and regarding the straps, how have you stopped the strips of canvass fraying along the edges. and is that a Dragon Jeep or a toy you have converted, i am interested because i also collect 1/6 scale soldiers, and would like to get them mobile.

hi i think it is a 21st century jeep it is the slat grill version.
the canvas straps i pulled some loose threads of the end and left them as long as i dont mess with them they seem ok although a bit of fabric glue might help ill have to try
i will take some more pics soon as i have made a rear battery box and battery for the radio and a mount for a bren on the side
i have also made mounts for spare fuel cans behind the seats an a wire reel over one headlight and blackout cover for the other side
its also painted and has a driver.
anyway i will stop babbling now
i will try to post more pics tomorrow

Great job on the Jeep.

I'd be interested in how you've configured the underneath as I've also got a 21st Century Jeep I'm converting. Any photo's would be great.
