old style is clear,modern can be tinted,its as simple as that,its down to the modeller how its interprated

Hi Chris
Modelair do a color called periscope, it"s a greeny/blue,i use it it"s spot on when dry cover with clear. hope this helps....Brian,

that sounds like an idea I've tried esp on modern mind you M1 Abrams periscopes have a pinkish tint,on WW2 models I use a pencil to burnish the solid plastic surface and find that light catches the shine like glass does
