AFV Identity?

Post by grompix »

This is a screen shot from a recent Hitler documentary on Sky.

I thought I could identify just about any tank that was kicking about during WW2 but this one has got me beaten.

Anyone any ideas?
Image
The tracks look PZIII/IV(ish) and the side skirts also look German but the strange riveted/bolted hull looks more akin to some of the Italian tanks. Italian/German battlefield workshop hybrid perhaps? Or maybe French - or Hungarian Tolde? Its got me going round in circles.

Cheers

I tried to find a pic of a Tolde as I have never heard of it. By my tank encyclopedia it looks very similar to a Hungarian Turan.
Hope this helps, Dave

Hello Chris. mcevoyi is correct. Its a Hungarian Tolda light tank.

Sorry Wolftone :D but I have to point out the wheels, they are very different on the Tolda/Tolde/Toldi to the pic above.
The Turan is a closer similarity;

You are absolutely right. Couldn't see the wheels, as for some reason the tank is only visible from the left of the pic to about half way across the front on my pc. ? Just tried downloading the picture & its all there in the download. there are white dashes across the top of the pic & where they stop is all i can see on the forum thread??? Didn't even see the other gun in the front of the hull...
If anyone knows why that would be it would be much appreciated.

Lol no worries. This is due to screen resolution, I worked this out for posting pics on here, due to the forum layout pictures get cut off at certain points (no complaint tho!). Grompix's pic is 1024 pixels wide, if your desktop resolution is 1280x1024 pixels, the pic gets cut off at around 717 pixels. If your res is 1024x768 (very common) the pic gets cut off around 557 pixels, which I reckon is yours. If you want to change the resolution just right click on an empty desktop, select 'properties' if using Windows XP then go to far right tab on window that appears and change to max available resolution, though this will make text appear smaller too. When I view pics that appear wider than the forum can handle I just right click the pic and select 'view image' and it should display the full image. Hope this helps :thumbup: Dave
