rebuild
rebuild
Hi all,Tiger1 rebuild
cut out the battery box, glued in the battery cover
glued in some plastic square tube to glue a new floor to
then glued in plastic sheet for new floor
fitted metal idlers wheel adjusters
the bottom hull is a lot more stiffer nowRe: rebuild
Seems to be a much better hull now than before, good job. You might ask Dave if he can get you a Asiatam component tray like the ones in the Tiger hull, they are not expensive and would work very well with your layout. Seems I paid less than 10us for mine. The tray will allow you to mount your RX18 elevated and if you like you can add a fan under the RX18 . Then to service your tanks electronics is simple and compact easy to organize the wires and allow a certain amount of elevation encase of water in the hull.

Re: rebuild
centering the turret
cut out the turret ring(i think thats what it is called) make a new turret base refit ring to new base in the center of turret the turret now rotates on center but will be to far forward on the tank.

Re: rebuild
i cut out the top hull
then glued top hull in place plus the removed strip now at the front
then after a bit of measuring to reposition the turret in the correct position i cut a strip off the back of the removed hull
then added plastic sheet to strengthen the top hull [attachment=1]
then glued top hull in place plus the removed strip now at the front

Re: rebuild
update on hull, fitted rx18/fuses for battery/motors, speaker and pot update as posted on forum, fitted fan to rx18 and all swicthes etc. Had to fit rx18 from a bulldog the other rx18 off ebay was crap
it now sounds great with the updates, had to stop work my old soldering iron stopped working (i got it for 19 shillings and 11 pence in 1968) well worth it price sad to see it go in the bin

Re: rebuild
not much progress on rebuild ,other things to do but have cut out and fitted a turret protection ring, best i can do with my old hands and a pair of scissors.
Re: rebuild
That looks really good to me, but I must ask was it worth all the work? When I repainted the top deck of my Tiger and added the texture using the baking soda technique I considered this repair but felt I lacked the skill. Just as a point of interest why did Heng Long design the off set turret in the first place?

Re: rebuild
while the tiger is apart i thought why not have a go at building a turret protection ring, made a mess of three the fourth ring i fitted. I think HL just set out making toy tanks but have now realised there is a growing market for the modeler who cannot afford the tamiya range of tanks. I try my best to turn toys into models, when a got my first scalextric set it was not long before i bought toy plastic cars ford falcons/ford mustangs/ford mach1/ford mach2/cobras etc which where giro motors, used the body shells every body wanted a new scalextric ford falcon untill i told them i had built the cars myself. Hope i can keep on modeling for a few more years it does not matter if your model is not spot on detail wise, if your are happy with your finnished model/plane/boat/car/tank or what every you are building then great.lets keep on modeling
